Club Update: Club AGM Tuesday 11th September 7pm

Hi MR2 Owners
The club is still active but we require members to make it viable. Luckily the committee has members that are dedicated and passionate about keeping the club active such as organising cruise runs, trackdays with sponsors and other club and social activities like Chocolate Festivals, BBQs and the like.

If you've you been thinking about joining the club we have added some further incentives for you.
All new or renewing members who paid up as full members at the end of May 2012, will go in the draw to win one of 5 gift vouchers from Gorilla Industries.(1 X $200 voucher, 2 X $100 voucher and 2 X $50 vouchers)
The Draw will be held at June's committee meeting (first wednesday in June) and all are welcome to attend to witness the draw, but you dont have to be there to win (please notify us before hand so we can arrange an appropriate venue) We will advise the winners. The vouchers are valid for 12 months
On top of this, our sponsors Gorilla Industries have welcomed all members to a track day at wakefield on Tuesday May 29th. Not to mention the discounts the following sponsors have been able to give members from Gorilla Industries, Al Palmers, Team Motorkitz just to name a few.
So two great reasons to join the club in 2012 if you haven't already done so. Of course as you have seen there are other great events organised by the club. We are also planning a joint overnight event in October with the Queensland club in Coffs Harbour, we are still ironing out the details

Yeah we have flagged this as an issue, we really need to get numbers in earlier.  They already have some accomodation in mind.
 
Let you know after a few more discussions with the Queensland club as its really their event.

Hi Wiz and others,
just to support Darius and the other Committee members we have already held a face to face meeting about the October meeting in Coffs Harbour (I was down in Sydney and Darius offered the chance to attend a Committee Meeting).
Originally it was going to be the Queen's Birthday in June but Coffs is being taken over then by a huge annual event that moves around to different centres on the north coast (we didn't think members would like to put brylcream in their hair and do line dancing in the street) so it was moved to October.
We do already have a good line on the accommodation at a great (read "reasonably cheap but excellent") motel who have offered to hold some places for us BUT (BIG BUT) as Darius said we need to get the numbers ASAP.
Look forward to catching up with you there.

Wow.... can't believe its always halfway through the year, it was only 6 months ago we were celebrating the end of the 2011. Can't believe the time has flown by. The club in the past few months have had invites to Show 'n Shines such as Wings over illawarra, Go Karting events and not to memtion the various cruises we had the pleasure in organising.
 
The club has a new website and i've been updating as best i can with my limited time. The new club website is located here www.mr2clubnsw.com, you will need to a bit patient as i'm still updating details.
You may also notice the next two events we are having, Chocolate festival run and an invitation for show n shine at the WTAC.  So if you are interested in these events please give us a bell.

Save the club.
 
There is talk of dissolving the NSW Club.
 
Without being a member of a car club for your vehicle you are at risk of your car that you have spent your time and money on becoming a 'statutory write off' for what may be relatively minor damage.
 
A lot of insurers and repairers put our cars in the 'too hard/ too expensive' basket and write them off very easily.
No other state has these ridiculous rules so thats why its so important to keep the club alive.
 
Statutory write off means that your cars chassis number can never be registered anywhere in Australia and it has to be scrapped. 
 
So if you bother insuring your car you should pay the pretty measly membership fee, even if you cant attend many of the drives or events you have peace of mind knowing that you have half as chance afgainst these stupid stat write off rules.
 
Even though there has been a pretty big split in the NSW MR2 group (spilt like 80:20) between this forum and the 'other' forum this is something where petty little continuations of nonsense should be left out.
 
Tom, Jaemus, Mrs Jaemus, Dylan and David have really put some good time and effort into the club over the last twelve months.
