Park lights on JDM g-limited import

Hello im about to buy a mr2 g-limited n/a that was imported in 2005, it still has the orange park lights and iv heard that when they're imported they need to have clear ones, but its already been blue plated and she's all sweet, should i change them to clear or leave them? and will it cause any trouble if i leave them. thanks.

Tim.

The ADRs must have changed at some stage, many recent cars come with yellow parking lights, so you can probably keep them.

If you want to make the fogs white you can remove the yellow glass "condom" that sits over the bulb inside the light.

In SA the parking lights must be white. not orange, yellow or blue unless you enjoy getting defected.

So how do they deal with cars that come with orange parkers standard, eg landrovers, jeeps, some new trucks?

Take it easy with the car if you are new to driving, they can be a handful if you are unwary of the way they handle near the limit.  I would recommend some track time/decent training day with it so you can learn it in a safe environment, its also great fun!

Yeh i think im doing a driving course sometime soon which will be good. Is there any way you can describe what they're like to drive? i assume they grip to the road well?

I have found that compared to "normal" cars they feel darty and nimble, they grip well but require concentration when driving hard-ish, especially in the wet.  At the limit they can let go suddenly, especially if you back off/brake around a corner, or if you are not smooth with your imputs.  Have a look through the forums, it seems like every month or so one leaves the road and there ends up being one less MR2 on the planet.  Dont want to scare, but just be careful.

Decent tyres and a proper wheel alignment (by a specialist that works on club cars, not just the average place that checks to see if they are within the manufacturers specs) can make a big difference.

Join a car club and participate in their club/track days, you will learn a lot about your own and the cars abilities, its well worth it and a lot of fun.

Are the tyres on this car staggered?  The rears look the same width as the fronts in the pics, but hard to tell.

    Cheers

Nice clean car mate! its good to have another hardtop, manual g-limited around.

I have the same model as yours, bar other changes to it obviously.

I find the car is very very agile, its not the fastest thing on the road, but the hardtop (like mine and your) are alot lighter and stiffer than the t tops so I find myself pulling away from commodores, braking later and just being much faster through the corners.

    Good luck with the car

Also, my car is a jdm import, and I have clear parkers, guess you will find out on the road worthy :)
