Few questions/ Need help with the sw20

Hey guys

So after purchasing my sw20, I started to notice a few things are wrong with it and I have a few questions

Info on the car: 1990 SW20 G-limited with Manual box, Hardtop, Japanese Import

1. On sweeping right hand turns at highway speeds (above 90), the car sways and shakes ver very violently, my dad had this issue and almost lost control. I think it may be a broken engine mount as the car maks a "ku-klunk" whenever I take off. Am I correct in thinking this? is there anything else it could be?

2. There is an oil leak coming from the motor. I have had a friend who is a mechanic look at it and he says its the rear main seal. Can the rear main seal be done without removing the motor?

3. Since my car is a G-Limited, and it is fitted with a manual box, this means it has a s54 box and i have confirmed this. I have read on this site that s54 boxes can have torsen diffs, is that true and how can I confirm this as apparently they only engage under load.

I can post pictures of anything you need, if you need more info just ask. Thanks for your help

1: possibly eng mounts, but more likely something suspension or wheel bearing related.

2: yes engine can stay in.

3: do a burn out and hopefully leave 2 black marks not 1.

Check the engine mounts by all means, but before driving the car again, jack the rear check for play in the ball joints, wheel bearings, and rear track rod rose joints.
Look for oil around the shocks.
Are the sway bar links connected?
When I first got my car, I found the back end was very unstable and had a bad sway because the outer track rod rose joint was history.

My dad had to take my car to work again, he said that the swaying vibration is getting worse. and the worst part is its happening at lower speeds now. This is a serious issue and the cars currently undrivable for the fear that either my dad or I will loose control.

Theres no oil round the shocks, and the sway bar links are connected.

He told me that this is without a shadow of a doubt a definete weight shift in the back. Im feeling more certain about the motor mounts being the issue

Rear bearings are something that does deteriorate on these cars before other things will.

Like the previous wise heads have said, jack the car up and grab and wobble the wheels - and see whats moving in ways it shouldnt.

Okay so I got a mate who has many drift cars and did an apprentiship at subaru.

We jacked the car up, checked wheel bearings, checked all bushes and bearing, checked sway bars, link, pretty much whatever we could. the engine mounts look okay. It has both I and him stumped.

    We did notice that:

the left rear suspension is alot harder than the opposit side
The left rear wheel is running a fair ammount of toe in

We have no idea what is going on with this car, and I'm praying that its somthing simple

Going to try to take it to the mechanics ASAP. Anyone know any good mechanics in the capalaba area?

    Thanks

Could the trailing arms be loose or have worn bushes?
Sounds a bit like the rears are walking - stepping in front of each other creating the wobbling.

Just an idea - i'm no mechanic.

It could have had some rear impact to the wjeel and bent susp rods cuasing toe.

Take it to a suspension mob for an alignment and check.

So we found out what it is. Turns out most of the struts are dead.

Hopefully will be getting some HSD HR coilovers in the next few weeks.

Thanks for all the helps :)
