ARC Intercooler for the 4AGZE - any info?

Hi all
I am thinking about a 2nd hand one of these ARC intercoolers that has come up for sale. I was wondering if anyone had much info about them? Is there an improvement in the cooling with these over the stock intercooler that warrants the outlay? What benefits am I likely to see?
My car has HKS cat back exhaust, and HKS F-con already.
Thanks

Scott - obviously I don't have an AW11, but I noticed a decent improvement when I ditched my stock core for an bigger one. Less pressure drop and cooler air charge is never a bad thing with forced induction. Any air-to-air still required decent airflow to be effective though. It would really shine if in the future you wanted to run a higher boost pulley too.

I have ARC airbox and cooler setup on my G-Limted, the result is worth the change. but I dont have data in measuring it improvement, maybe until I dyno turn it later next month.

AW11VIC - thanx. I might go look at the actual intercooler. It looks a little damaged in photos. Also, I assume it will need custom piping to connect??
Mine would still have the stock air box- probably for ever... so flow is never going to be great but a better core should help. I understand the basic theory of it, just not sure if it applied so much with supercharger vs turbo

I've heard the arc coolers are supposed to make a noticeable difference but I can never find one to buy... I was under the impression the ones built specifically for the aw11 should just bolt on without any changes.

here is the pics of it. The outlet connections are in different locations to the stock intercooler imo..

That's what I thought. It does not look like it will just be a straight replacement, and it is damaged. Rang the seller this arvo and left msg

It definitely is an ARC plug 'n play for the MKI, as I compared it to pics I have of some, but it is also definitely a bit beat up. If they are not supplied, you will need to fabricate some L-brackets to connect the intercooler to the oem body spots, where the bolts are sticking out of the intercooler.

FYI: the ARC may be cool to have as they are definitely a bit rare, but consider this, they have only 12 cross sections, as compared to about 18 on the oem unit. While the ARC is definitely a thicker core, I'm not 100% sure that the thicker core and fewer cross sections can make up for the loss of about 6 cross sections on the oem unit, even though the oem unit is a bit thinner. Just something to think about.

So long, and thanks for all the fish!

It's even more beat up than the pics show. There was no L-brackets, and the piping was very poor. Basically it had a straight piece of thick exhaust piping and it connected to the stock t-bend pipe which was hacked shorter, and i could have done a cleaner cut with a butter knife. Thanks all for the info. If a clean one came up I might be interested.

Those would have originally come with a short, 12" or so, length of pipe that would have connected to the intercooler output pipe, via a short straight oem type coupler, and that pipe would have run straight to the upper part of the inlet manifold connection piping, where the oem intercooler normally connects, and would have connected to it, via the oem coupler. I guess that they didn't have that, and were supplying some crude pipe in its place.

So long, and thanks for all the fish!
