ignition timing

I was just reading the bgb on how to adjust the ignition timing and it says that I need to connect the TE1 and E1 to put it into tunning mode.
I have a PFC so does that mean I still need to do this? Thanks in advance.

The PFC completely replaces the stock ECU, right? If thats correct, then I would think the diagnostic port wouldn't have any effect.
