Mr2 Turbo Noise Levels

Hey Guys, I Have a strange question for you all. I just bought a Mr2 Turbo and I cant for the life of me hear any "turbo" associated noises. No spooling, blow off valve, nothing. I know the turbo is working because the thing is just too quick for it to be NA. The car is completely standard and I just wanted to know if this is the norm for these engines. Seems mighty strange to me because I have had a few turbo cars over the years and the engines always let you know that they are turbocharged.
Thanks

generally noise assoc with turbo's is more prevelant when people fit POD filters, and BOV's venting to atmosphere.

if it's stock, then the airbox and plumb back bov and stock exhaust will quieten it down

    As above.
When I first got my car the engine was completely stock, including the stock airbox and resonator, stock BOV and stock exhaust. I could barely hear the turbo at all.
As soon as I fitted a 3 inch exhaust system I was able to hear the turbo quite easily, even with the stock airbox and resonator still there.
Also, the stock airbox and resonator makes the stock BOV almost inaudible too.

I just took the car out for a "spirited" run and could finally hear the turbo and BOV (barely) but only under hard acceleration. Is it possible to put a screamer pipe on a stock turbo/dump pipe setup? Not a fan of quiet cars.

Atm I've got a Pod and catback exhaust. Removing the stock airbox must make a huge difference, because it definitely sounds like a turbo car. Doesn't get a huge amount of attention which I like, but having it right over your shoulder means you get to hear it a lot.

I've seen a divorced dump pipe before, so having a screamer would definitely be possible from that. However most dumps using an internal gate just go with the simplest method. Space is limited!

I wouldnt get a screamer pipe if I wanted to drive around without getting pulled over and defected.
Just get a nice high flowing exhaust, take the resonator off the intake and you'll be surprised.
Screamer pipe would need a whole new turbo plumbing set-up too.

This is pretty much what mine sounds like from within the cabin. (this is not mine though ;p)
With a pod intake, its way louder than other turbos because its so close to you.
You dont need a screamer pipe at all!
