MR2 1994 clock spring - urgent!!!!

Hey guys/girls,

I'm after a clock spring for my MR2 for my horn on my 'new' steering wheel to work.  I took off my old steering wheel and replaced it with a Turbo model (93 - 99) but need the clock spring to make it work.  The old steering wheel had the clock spring in-built to the steering wheel, but the 'new' one has one bolted on behind.

Here's a picture off what I am after... clock spring on the right with mounting bracket.

Not as easy as you think.
There are 2 combinations for the clock spring and then different versions depending on the number of pins. Then 2 different shrouds ( black 2 piece cover )
Firstly there are 2 backing plates the difference is the bottom tab, One it goes forward the other goes away.
Then there are the different shroud to suit that backing plate.
Then there is the clock spring with about 5 available depending whether there is cruise control or not , depending the year as the air bag plug is different and also depending whether the new wheel is of the same year as of the car.
So depends if you have air bag enable ( connected )
Then there are different stalks depending if there is traction control
Then there is the Aussie version which had no air bag wires as its self contained,

So in a nut shell best to say which one you need then you might get the correct one. Or it will be expensive exercise as you might end buying a few.

I do have a spare one whether it suites i have no idea ,

The rpm garage one is complete as i guess its of the same car, but if you have Aussie car it will NOT fit

    Good luck

:( You have an Aussie car like me. Well you will have to change a LOT of things unless some one else can chim in .
You will have no air bag unless you buy the whole system, because the Aussie air bag is self contained quite expensive . I dont remember how much i paid.
Now if your car never had an air bag you dont have to worry about that.
You will have to buy new stalks , new plate , new shroud just to get that wheel you bought installed correctly if you did have an airbag.
See if the original wheel said SRS , or had an air bag , easy to see.
Unfortunately you have purchased either a USD or JDM steering wheel and not the Aussie 3 spoke. Chances of finding a Red Stitch Aussie 3 spoke wheel is Buckley.
Its new cost is around $3,500

Damn...so looking like I'm going to have to replace a few things as well.  However, my old steering wheel had no air bag - so advice on what to do now just to get the horn working?

The new steering wheel is a JDM 3 spoke.

    Thanks again Mandalay!

I had the same issue, replaced an aftermarket wheel with a JDM steering wheel on an 1994 Aus mr2(non airbag).
Both the aftermarket hub and the JDM wheel did not have the inbuilt "horn ring" like the original steering wheel would have had.
    Options to get the horn working are;
    - Get all the other JDM bits to make it work, i dont think just the clock spring is enough.
    - Get another wheel and hub, make sure the hub has the required horn ring(ebay has some) or an aus steering wheel.
    - Wire a horn button separately to the dash, just needs to ground the wire that goes to the horn contact pin on your steering wheel column/bolt picture.

    Carless again :(

Some images of a clock spring here, you can see it doesnt use the contact pin (that your column has)  unfortunately.

Yes it does , The white plug goes into the clock spring and the blue wire as you can see is attached to the metal base.

If i remember correctly the Aussie OEM even tho has a different clock spring/ stalks it still has the wires for the earth, splice the blue wire to it should work.

If not you need clock, stalks, steel bracket, column covers.
