Yea defo makes me think twice about doing anything from them. I almost bought this car before you Stuka. I probably would have had a larger turbo on there already assuming everything was perfect from the rebuild. SO glad I didn't lol. Just a shame really. Hope it doesn't cost too much to rectify.

Well I emailed Road and Track about this and gave Terry a number of days to respond in regard to his 'workmanship'. The email wasnt even acknowleged never mind responded to. Very dissappointing to say the least. quote: Originally posted by jdmr288

The way I see it every cloud has a silver lining. I was intending to stroke this motor but just not quite yet, that was for the next rebuild whenever it would have been needed. At least now I will have a kick ass 2.2l with much improved torque and a kick as turbo that will come on harder. Most important I will have peace of mind. Lots to look forward too, just need to source and order parts. The bank manager aint happy though!

Oh don't worry he will be cheering. Interest sucks. I'll have to pay off the extended part of my loan before I go and rebuild and get some stupid, unnecessary but extremely potent and havoc wreaking power. I'll be following your build very closely. Are you going to source a stroker "kit" or go about it your own way?

dont go in to debt over a car mate, it will end up owning you. wont be going for a stroker kit, it would be easier but the kits Im aware of come from US or UK and exchange rates suck. ive ordered almost all i need except the crankshaft and all the ancillary stuff needed.

Your showing great persistence and maturity with this issue Pat, good on you. We've already discussed our equal disgust at the engine builders negligence and only hope others can learn from this. It's sad that you can no longer trust big business when it comes to very technical applications. But at least we still have independent legends like Ian to set things straight and take great pride in their work. I wish you the luck of the Irish with this car, I'm sure it will reward you soon

That sucks mate... I'd never buy anything used or a previously built engine in hindsight. Preferred to do it myself and ensure its don't correctly. Mech has never touched my car. I only have one I'd trust to do anything to it anyway, and he is a good mate of mine.

I hope R&T see this & respond. That's quality that is......
The ratio of 3SGTE experts is kinda rich compared to the amount of quality 3SGTE's out there.

A number of people have pointed out this could have been a catalyst to Matt not being able to crack that 200rwkw barrier, although lack of cams must have contributed.

I'll be keeping regular updates on this thread so no need to be crowding out Ian's or Huey's. There is nothing much to see with mine at the moment anyways.
