Less wheelspin [88] Had serious problems getting first and second gears to hook up. I was only running RT615's. A chunky R-comp tyre wouldn't have gone astray. My tuner did the same thing, took a few degrees of timing out for 'safety margin'.
LOL at only RT615's, it was my understanding that they're still pretty serious tires.

They are a high end street tyre, they are nothing when compared to a proper racing tyre however. They have about twice the wear rating.

Pat, I just looked through your whole thread and saw no mention of you using a CDI ignition, is that correct? I guess you just have the stock system, perhaps with new dizzy components? I plan on running similar boost levels so I'm just curious. Most people have said that I'll be fine with correctly gapped plugs and no CDI, and it would be nice if that was the case. Do you know what plugs and plug gap you're running?

its stock ignition but all new bits except for the coil, keep it simple and preserve the bank balance. Im using BKR7E plugs with gap from the the box, I think its 0.028

Have you been able to get any intake temps?

Hi Pat, Ian B showed me your dyno graph the other day and I was wondering if you knew how much timing you are running at that boost ie full load.
As I am running 9 degrees at 18psi on my 4ag setup and not sure if thats low or not.
Cheers, Max

yep I can read intake temps through the Haltech, they are normally between 5 and 10 degrees above the outside temp.
Timing is around 15 degrees as far as I recall.

As per our previous discussions via email, If you were to do it again would you go for a slightly larger setup for a bit more top end or is it very streetable/comfortable as it is now with the 3071?

James Im happy with the set up I have and its suited to TAS roads. like you I prefer the twisties so I like peak boost early and as Jay said top end aint an issue with all that power this side of 7,000rpm, the power really holds where the torque has brought you.
with these turbos, unlike stock, torque is a major rush when you hit peak boost. the transition between is very noticeable, so the earlier the better. Im hesitant to make a general recommendation as its down to the driver and the conditions in which the car will be driven, although the GT3071R is probably the best all rounder. the best recommendation is to go and drive one and see for yourself.
