Yeah GPS will be RS232 into dash. The only reason i might not run the 'motec' gps antenna is i want to use the gps antenna i already have on my car, which is a round hockey puck thats a bulkhead mount, so you dont see the wiring out the side of it or have to run it through a grommet on the roof ect, but the antenna is just an antenna, as the racepak dash just had a sma connector for the antennas coax, so prob get the racegrade adapter http://racegrade.com/gps_v2.html and will prob still be 10hz, unless the 20hz isnt too much more $$ Went the M hundred series instead of the M1 series only cause i guess its much more well known, much more people know them inside and out compared to M1, and im sure the M880 can handle my simple motor. Eventually ill have pro logging on and i2pro, no point untill the cars going. I have 2 replay xd cameras in the car already, hardwired and has autostart ect, but yeah any data overlay will have to manualy done, so realy want a HDVCS, very expensive for the picture quality, and most videos ive seen it looks like the data is updated at 0.5hz ha ha, nothing special but very convenient, i have been talked out of buying one but lets just say i have a space reserved for one on the electronics plate on the passenger footwell, and will have a spare CAN connection there, as i know ill end up getting one oneday.

really?? the original vcs was a horrible quality video capture unit, but the new hd model is a hell of a lot clearer. Fair point on the gps, its a pain to mount them cleanly, but most of the track cars I run them on have carbon roofs, so they sit on top of the rollcage inside the car, making things a lot easier, and they work perfectly through the carbon.

I know you can change the size and location of the gauges, but can you change whats shown? As in add track map? another channels? Or just fixed to throttle, brake, gear, speed, Gforce & rpm? Also while back in another thread you mentioned about the Gills oil debris sensor, have you used one of these? If so any real world feedback? If you work were i think you do, i think the car will be coming there come engine in time

I haven't run a debris sensor as of yet in a car, as the cars that would justify it have the engines stripped down and check frequently, and run dry sumps with peterson filters and debris filters, so keeping tabs on them between overhauls is quite easy. As for where I work, a couple of cars from my work have been floating around fabraications whilst your car was there.

I have started the work on the FIA plumbed in fire extinguisher. Its AFFF (foam) and the 4L alloy electric version (small wiring to push buttons, not pull cables, can be triggered by external or internal button. There are 3 nozzles in the cabin, 2 at the front on the fuel tank tunnel (1 pointing at driver midriff the other at passenger footwell were alot of electronics will be) and 1 on the rear firewall aimed at the back of my seat, in case of massive engine fire such as rod out block, oil on exhaust ect. I will have 2 in the engine bay also. Like all plumbed in systems, there not designed to put out a fire, if it does then thats nice, but there designed to save your life. Cool you and cool the fire with foam as you try to stop the car, undo harness, climb out around the cage ect. Nozzle pointing at back of my seat, and also 2nd main 8mm line going into engine bay, will be for engine bay nozzles later on. 4L bottle mounted on floor

Brendan. I am surprised that this car doesn't live in a museum archival quality air condiitioned temperature and humidity controlled environment.
