Hi Alex, sounds good! I wanted to go to this a couple of years ago but didn't go for some reason...

SO who's entering their MR2, it's only $10, and I'm definitely considering it, since mines a "grey import".  :D

I'll be heading down with some mates, one who has a crazy MX-5 entered. But alas my car's still got problems, so she won't be making it. :(

Ah, his isn't turbo'd, but it is loud. -_- It'll be sitting on a pair of orange SSR MkII's on the day.

Mine's still got cooling issues, I can only make short trips so far. Also the paints pretty faded, so she's not the prettiest atm. :(

Nice, I'll look out for it.
    Re overheating...
That probably means you've got air bubbles in the system and they need to be bled out. I've done a successful coolant flush on mine before, if you need a hand.
When was the last time the coolant was flushed and changed?

Well I've had a lot of work done so far, I had it flushed when a hose burst. I've had welch plugs replaced, a front hose replaced, thermostat replaced and most recently the thermostat removed.

Problem is, it doesn't overheat when I'm driving hard, only when I'm at cruising speed it'll start to warm up. If I bring it down a gear for a little while, it usually brings it down to normal temperature. I've also had the "Engine Compartment Cooling Fan Warning Light" appear quite frequently.

I'm still learning and don't know much about cooling systems, so have been relying on a mechanic to diagnose my problems. but not had much luck so far. I've got it booked in for Tuesday, but it's still a big mystery atm. :/

I use to have the same problem, when the temp started going up, dropped it back a gear and accelerated and the temp would go back down.
That is just pushing the air pocket through the system, as Josh said, its a bleeding problem, get that air bubble out and that will sort your heating issue out...

It is a delicate exercise but has to be done right, alot of people use the hose at the radiator end as per bgb, but you can also have the system pressure bled that works also.

Ah, that makes sense, I'll let my mechanic know on Tuesday.

I've searched for a few guides, and found these two:
    http://www.midshiprunabou...oling-system-bleeding/
    http://www.midshiprunabou.org/mk2/coolant-flush-2/

Is one way better than the other?

the pressure bleed will take no time at all, but need the tools for it, the other way can take up to a day to fully bleed the system...

I'd be going with the first one, in the second they make it look more complicated.
When me and shine did my MR2, it took about a day but that was because it had green ****ty coolant in there and I made sure it was all flushed out before filling it with Red/Toyota coolant. You could easily dump the old stuff and refill and bleed it in a few hours with a mate and the right tools.

Awesome. Thanks for all your help guys. I've got her booked in to the mechanic tomorrow still, so I'll see how she goes there.
