Thanks jay,  ive been putting off the window tinting for a while now.
you reckon 15% ive never had a car tinted before so ill have to take some suggestions on board.
still dissapointed in myself for not washing the car before turning up there, thinking it was going to rain and all. damn melbourne weather fooled me once again.

cheers

Yeah, 15% is ideal IMO. Not as ridiculously dark as the 5% I have on my SW20. I put off tinting for a long time but after getting it done realised I should've done it @ the start.

My daily driver has 15% & I find it perfect. Police have never had an issue with it either.

15% VLT looks pretty dark, having had to strip off tint for the authorities before, 35% VLT is legal. But I guess do what you think you can get away with. FYI I applied SW20 pre-cut tint from the states myself in 35%, turned out pretty good with the right tools (not as good as a pro lol) and you can still see great at night.

Agree, it really depends on what you can get away with. My mate is a tinter & he generally recommends 15%. 35% is OEM tint level, doesn't block out enough sunlight in summer for my liking.

The general consensus from professional tinters I've spoken to wont do the targa glass. They said it MAY cause the glass to heat up too much and crack since they know how much those panels are new lol. HOWEVER
I'm thinking about doing mine with reflective tint myself, similar to some of the AW11s with factory reflective tint.

Hey purple5ive, this is the first time I've looked at your thread for ages, and I've only just seen your latest photos...beautiful!
Jay hasn’t stopped telling me that I need to change to Work Equips haha.
Anyways, nice work, looks amazing mate.

/\ thanks man, yeah i looked for ages to find the wheels i have on my car they are not the best cosmetically and not the lightest either  and i have thought about changing them a few times for something else but somehow ive always been drawn back to how they look on the car. i think sw20s look good with some nice dished 5 spokes.

and yeah were part of the aeroware lip mob, the underside of mine looks like a cheese grater now lol.

ps - theres a few guys in the states now looking to pull of the same look like us, everythign the same except they have greddy skirts, ive posted some pics of the PP rear for them to compare with other brands (greddy, bomex etc) so they can make up their mind.
believe me i had a lot of trouble and spent hours searching for a stock 90-91 winged sw20 with greddy skirts and aeroware lip thats had PP rears, i didnt find one but came very close (greddy lip).

cheers

As for tinting the targe tops.....IMO, if you have those covers (roof cloth trim), there's no need to tint. As you either block out completely (darken from outside), open for some light or remove for the whole targa experience. That coming from someone that prefers a hardtop though....lol

Rob, If I had a dollar for everytime you've said "I love the look of my....." I'd have enough to get you genuine items Just playing with ya.....haha After you get rims, maybe you should buy a go-kart. Had a brief look & they're actually quite affordable as long as you don't go silly.

Should submit your car for MR2 of the Month on MR2OC purple5ive.

yeah i have the targa top shades, i dont use them except in summer when i get roasted. they let quite a lot of light into the car which i like. guess i can leave them on where they belong.

Hmm didnt think of that car of the month, might give it a crack soon thanks for that.
cheers

and yeah were part of the aeroware lip mob, the underside of mine looks like a cheese grater now lol.

I've been discussing ride heights with Jay lately, because I'm worried about damaging the front lip as you just said.
Is the damage on your front lip only underneath where it's not visible, or is it slightly visible even when you're not looking at it from down near the ground?

Another thing, where did you source your Work Equip rims from?

THE LIP is scratched underneath, but if you looks really carefuly from certain angles, on your knees or trying to get some tricky shots, you can just make it out. i have some extra paint that i got from the panel shop so a small touch up in the right places will fix that
if your riding low its going to happen eventually. i have speed bumps on my street and have to crawl over them everytime the car comes out.

The equips were bought locally, db8 and gorilla have some.
mine are 17x8, 9 +35 offsets.
the rear has a 5mm spacer on it, the front i havent put it in yet cause i cant get the jack underneath the car in the front.
spacers are for when the coilovers are fitted cause my tire has a rim protector which just hits the coilovers.
