Microtech MT-8 full setup. Everything needed
Selling my old Microtech setup, MT-8 for any 3sgte running a distributor with single coil ignition. This unit does sequential fuel and ignition is taken care of by a bosch Coil+Ignitor. Basically im including the microtech itself + Hand controller, Ignition coil + Ignitor, top gun Max Performance ignitior leads with a custom dizzy cap - Coil lead (1000kms used, almost new), injector clips for topfeed injectors and enough wiring on the harness to patch into where you need to go. This worked fine for what its needed to do, but ive gone to a MS3+MS3x because i want more features. IMG_0472 by nuk1ear IMG_0475 by nuk1ear IMG_0474 by nuk1ear Im only asking $380 for everything The hand controller alone is 195 new, ECU isnt worth much, maybe $150 now, coil + ignitor maybe 50 and the leads are about 140 new. This is a good cheap way to get to know a standalone and tune yourself, i know i learnt alot from the unit. Im in melbourne, phone/sms 04226six9199. Happy to post.

how much for the controller mate?
Why do people say "grow some balls"? Balls are weak and sensitive if you really wanna get tough, grow a vagina! Those things take a pounding!

This has really got me thinking! And I'm quite interested! I have a stock gen2 engine I'm assuming this would be ideally suited? What tune does the ecu currently have on it? How difficult would something like this be to install? (i'm good with technical knowledge, esp IT) would it require loom splicing? edit: yes. and after reading up about it i should be able to do it.

As i said, its no plug n play. The wiring is very simple, setup to use stock coolant sensor and just MAP. So you can remove the MAF, stock map ssr, stock boost control ssr, fuel pump resistor, injector resistor etc etc but you can just leave most of it and splice into the stock loom. You essentially need to wire in standard power/ignition/ground/fuel pump relay wires, wire up the ignitor (tach out, ground, ignition input from ecu etc) and wire up the coil. Wire up all injectors and your done. In terms of startup idle control, i used 1 of the AUX outputs to open a idle valve i have (was using XF throttle body so not standard) until it hit around 65degc coolant. You can do this with the stock valve if you like too. Tune wise, i had 550cc RX7 turbo injectors on it, and it was running a pretty solid tune up to about 4500rpm and then it goes fairly rich (11 flat afr). Because i decided to go and use a different ecu and didnt think tuning it would be efficient. Either way, no matter what car you put it on you WILL need to tune it again anyways. Im more than happy to answer any questions. Im almost giving this away, its everything you need too, cause i think it would be a good cheap way for someone to learn their way around tuning an ecu which isnt too complex. Best way to learn is by doing :) You could pretty much splice this into a stock loom, but i would remove the MAF straight away, rest of the gear doesnt matter.

Here's a question for everyone - would it be possible to install this using something like the DIYBOB http://www.diyautotune.com/diybob/index.html#N76 instead of splicing into the stock loom? and then run the aftermarket ignitor run wire separately etc? Looking at options atm :)

was it fairly easy to tune idle and cruising with the controller? does d controller display a/f ratios or did u have a separate wideband sensor gauge?

i used a separate wideband gauge, but u can hook it up to the ecu and display it too. Very simple to tune, the ecu isnt very complex. Just tune fuel and timing for idle, not much to it really. Mine idled perfect, actually, come to think of it, i never really had an issue with it until i wanted to add 1000 aux outputs and inputs lol

mine starts, idles fine but dies while warming up untill its fully warmed up then it idles again, high idle and cruising running bit rich. im lucky to get 360 to d tank (a lot of WOT moments tho) i just want to lean it out and fix warm up corrections hehe

hmm sounds like the tunes a bit off, also i used an idle up valve for warm up and never had an issue with that. Idle was always fine. I got 420 to about 38ltrs roughly for me. lean out is bad, ur using a wideband (hope so)? warm up corrections i played with were the timing mainly because that had the biggest effect, and fuel addition for temp which i made very linear and the AFR goes from about 12/12.5 at startup to around 14 at idle. My engine didnt like going leaner than 14 at idle.
