Daves AW11 SC14 + 6-Speed

After going on my first cruise with the QLD guy's on the weekend I thought I would throw up a ride thread for my SC14 6-speed AW11.

This is my daily driving AW11, was bought from WA shortly after it was sold from the original owner in Vic who built her up. It came back on the market 1-week after I picked up my first AW11 from SA which is a 4AGTE, knowing the car already I just could not let this one go and decided to buy her as well.

When I got the car I had it put on the Dyno and came in just under 120kw atw, this was before the 164mm crank pulley was installed and also the W2A intercoolers pump was not working at the time. Will have her back on the Dyno in the next few months, would say it should be around the 130kw atw now.

The car came to me in an almost perfect condition, below is a list of the mods I have had done to the car since I got her.

164mm crank puley installed
Rebuilt SC14 installed
3SGTE TB Installed
Custom bypass system for the SC14 (Using a WasteGate)
Coilovers removed, went back to Koni & Springs
Changed from PCW 10kg 16" rims to some lovely Ray's Volk G2 16" @ 5.3kg per rim

There is only really one last thing I plan to do with this car which is to change the SC14 125mm pulley to a MAP GZE's SC12 120mm pulley, this should give me a little bit more boost and will hit the limit I am prepared to push the SC14 to just over 10,000RPM at around 7200RPM off the motor.

(Engine)
Rebuilt smallport 4agze, 30k ago (arp flywheel bolts, head studs, conrod bolts & mains)

JAM 164mm Crank Pulley
Custom bypass system for the SC14 (Using a WasteGate)
Extractors, genie stainless dual outlet muffler
Upgraded sw20 gt fuel pump
Custom W2A intercooler

(Driveline)
C60 6 speed box, 1/2 shaft conversion

I'm curious.  Why the custom SC bypass?

Something about the conversion that needed that?

Yeah the motor in this thing is awsome, it's really been built to be turboed so there is plenty of room to play around in the future to get more power and the motor will handle it. The 6-speed is great until you jump into a 5-speed and try and put it in reverse from 5th expecting it to be 6th. :P

You prob can't see from the photos but there was no room for the stock ABV. After doing a fair bit of reading I decided I wanted a bypass system on there and the wastegate idea seemed like a good way to go. Makes the car drive a lot nicer than without any kind of bypass as well. You can see the wastegate setup in the youtube video link on the first post.

After seeing this car on our Christmas run, I can say that it looks even better 'in the flesh' so to speak. Sounds great & goes like the proverbial.

Thanks for the nice comments guy's. :)

It went back on the Dyno today and is still making around 119kw atw, tho now with the 164mm crank pulley it's making more down low.

I still have some issue with belt slip, clutch slip as towards the top end of the RPM it dropped about 2psi. There is a very good chance that I might end up putting a twinscrew on this car in the next year, getting a little over all the problems I have been having with the SC14's

Well it's starting to look official. I am going to install a Sprintex S5-210 TwinScrew supercharger in this car. Work should start around July / Aug this year.

I decided to pull the plug on the SC14 after all the trouble I have had with them and slipping, not to mention they are 20+ years old and not very efficient. The car was built to be turboed so the motor will have no problem going right up to 200kw atw. Looking at what the guy's in the UK got from the Sprintex S5-210's on the Mini's it should work to be at least 160kw atw and might even be possible to pull 180 to 200. I don't think I would want 200atw, would be happy around the 170 or at most 180atw.

Will have to go a/m ECU and the Haltech PS1000 is starting to look like what will be going in her. Been looking at some of those CAN dashes as well, but not 100% sure yet on the dash will wait and see.

Only thing I am going to have to be very careful of is the gearbox, the C60 is known to not be the strongest box and I will just have to treat her nice and not drive like an idiot.

Because the blower in there atm is slightly missaligned she is going to get garaged once I get my red car back until we start on the project.

Why not just swap in one of your SC12's for a while so you can keep driving her?

    Thanks anachisttomato. :)

Knight, nah I am not playing around with her anymore until the twinscrew, since I can't change the blower myself I would have to pay someone to do it. To be honest she is most likely driveable and the belt should not break, but I know murphy really well and if I drive her around lots while I don't have my red car as a backup it's going to break. :P

Just going to use her as little as possible until I have the red car back, then I can use the red one as my daily and only drive the grey one when I feel like it until we start on the twinscrew.

I have owned the bloody red car for 18-months now and only had the pleasure of using it for just a few drives between places to have things fixed, so I am kinda excited to have it back and use it as my daily for a while, get some use out of it.

I seriously can't wait to see how this sprintex turns out.
