Cracked pipes above tank

I have the engine out of my 1990 3sgte, with the heat shields off can see coolant stain on the pipe that runs above the tank. I will remove it today.
I understand cracks in these pipes are common, what do people usually do for a fix, have them welded? or is it ok to replace with hose?
Thanks for your input

You can get replacements from toyota but they're in excess of $500 new.

Otherwise I have some 2nd hand ones for sale that might suit you:
SW20 radiator bypass pipes (will set you back $500 from toyota) - $150 [<font]NOW $99

he needs the heater pipes not the coolant pipes.

    3 options.

new from Toyota (where the mounting tabs are is rubber insulated as this is the flaw in the design that causes a tear and subsequent leaks)

remove repair and refit (may leak again)

replace with lengths of rubber hose (shoddy repair I have seen that I don't recommend)

Some of the blokes in the us have been tapping into the coolant pipes at the front of the car for their heater supply.

    Ive had that leak before.
I removed them and had a radiator place weld them up. Cracked again about 12 months later, so cut right through the pipe and clamped a rubber hose over it. Has been ok since

you dont retain a good heater if you tap into the front pipes though.

Hmm, after speaking to a mechanic, apparently this is also more common the on targa tops due to the extra strain/movement the chassis is under. I would get the pipes re-welded from a radiator place. See if you can change the mounting tabs at the same time, preferable to rubber ones with a bit more flex to them.

Still haven't got the tank out to get to the pipes, been to busy. Hopefully get around to it today. I'm guessing these pipes are probably a lot of peoples cooling problems without them even realizing it. I'm thinking this could have been a big part of mine. Every time I opened the cap the water wasn't at the top(didn't take much to top it up though) and bleeding the system at the front was trouble even following everyones instructions.

the people who go around telling everyone they hear bubbling noises and say its normal later find out they have air entering their cooling system at that particular tap on the rh pipe;)

Finally got the tank and pipes out. Will be installing a bigger fuel pump while there.
Here is a pic of the right hand pipe. Crack is awful. The previous owner has attempted to repair this with what looks like some ****ty epoxy. It was soft. It looks to be a weak repair by just reaching their arm down there and smudging it all around. I hate dodgy jobs and plan to get this repaired better than new.

My plan is to have this piece cut out, have a stainless pipe bent to match this bend and the next and have the mount welded to this and have all the ends flared join it together with some usual hose.
Thoughts? Better ideas maybe? I'm open for suggestions.
Also removed the lhs, looks fine, is this side prone to crack too?

lh do leak, but main issue is the rh pipe. I like your idea with the remanufactured pipes.

make sure to use some insulation, rubber or something to dampen the vibrations which cause them to crakc in the first place too yeh

I'd probably use hose clamps or something to attach the mounting tab. If it not welded on, it can't crack off and cause leaks.
