Dark metallic green '91 NA SW20 with Camry 3VZFE conversion a few years ago (best thing i ever did ...and easy). 17" Starcorp wheels, Turbo stocky muffler, K&N, Poly bushes everywhere. Got a fidanza in the shed but lacking motivation

    Welcome to the forum
There are a few SA based members and it would be good to get together.
The last time it was tried for a get together to go to Birdwood fell apart as many had other commitments on that day.
Maybe with better weather it will happen.
I will be away from the 6 Sep and returning on the 5 Nov. My wife and I are going to Canberra and then to Europe for a well deserved holiday.
I have owned MR2's for abut 10 years and love driving them.
The original MR2SA club is now defunct although I still have the original documentation, minutes of meetings etc etc.
Most of the original commitee members still own MR2's but we have not got together for about 4 -5 years.
One of the major problems we had was the small number of members and the cost to join CAMS as a group. We were not able to get any sponsorship either.
Maybe someday the club can be resurrected.
    Cheers
    John

Welcome. There have been a few of us catching up regularly over the past year or so. None of the past members have ever joined in. The way we organise it is through the forum here. It would be great to see you and your car join us regulars on one of these days.

Sounds like something i would definitely be interested in, although as a student, trying to run the MR2 without CAMS membership is hard enough :P

I'm Tim, 1992 silver SW20 GT. 16" Rays (soon to be 17" Rays), hiflowed turbo, Tein coilovers, fujitsubo exhaust, poly bushes as well, deleted AFM with gen 3 ecu and 540cc injectors.

MRTURBO, myself and beagle_senior have had a few get togethers this year, along with mr2pod and fung9420.

My MR is up in Olympic Dam at the moment but should be bringing it back in a month or so. On my last trip up here i managed to hit a sheep at 110kph and am still in the process of fixing it. Add to that the acidic dust on the 20 year old paint and i think the whole car will need a respray.

It might not be very pretty at the moment but still great to drive.

I'd be up for a meet when its back in Adelaide

My black SW20 GT is about to have motor pulled for a head gasket, which is pretty frustrating, as the motor was recond in Sydney not long before I bought it last year. Otherwise it is in good condition, stock and even wears it's original 14" wheels. I'm looking forward to meeting you all when it's back on the road and would love to go to the nationals, but don't know if the car will be ready (& reliable) by then!

Thanks, I'm hoping to see the damage soon (it's with my brother-in-law and on the backburner at his workshop), but that sounds like a start!

Nick, i would strongly suggest a metal head gasket, and maybe even a set of ARP head studs if you need to pull the head off anyway. Just a little extra piece of mind when it comes to reliability.

all the meets we have had do not require you to bring your MR2. That's the whole idea at present - being social. Hope to meet you guys soon

    Good evening all,
It's good to hear more interest from other SA MR2 owners. I sincerely hope this will be the start of something bigger for the future. I would like to see this move forward.
After a long Sunday working on my car and my mate "shine's" MR2, I can finally say that mine is back to normal again (suspension/wheels). Shines MR2 turbo was recently only registered last Friday after a half a year to get it in a roadworthy condition. We all try and help each other out.

I have owned my white SW20 turbo since the end of 2009, and have loved every minute of driving it. I have been through a lot with this car including a Regency experience last year so, it has been an interesting journey to say the least. It has a few mild mods at the moment such as uprated springs/bushes/adjustable Koni shocks + upgraded intercooler. I have recently fitted a new Berk ceramic coated downpipe and a Phoenix Power Departure II Pro exhaust will be going on very soon. I have to say, though, there is quite a bit of work in maintaining the car as well.

Yes, MR2pod is right in saying that you don't need your MR2 on the road to attend a future meet as being social is what it's really all about. I don't care if you bring your Hyundai or motorbike but we would like to see you there!

    Watch this space.
    Cheers,
    Josh

I know, but while your faithful partner would be welcome, an eccentric tart might be more interesting!

If beagle_senior could send me the details of Emma Chizzet, I'll pick that gasket up.

Haha, but there is no need to miss out all together. The more contact we have, the better the whole experience will be.
Last time Josh got to ride in my AW11, then drove it for a while through the hills. What could be better than playing with someone elses eccentric tart ??
