i need permission from DOTARS to sell it, and i think that means modifying it to bring it up to ADR's... normally this wouldn't be a big deal... but i can see potential problems with 1) no cat converters. 2) noise 3) 17" wheels instead of 14's 4) coilovers i dont think the turbo or increased displacement would cause a problem, and its easy to fit side intrusion bars... but i'd have to get an eng cert i guess.

MRTWO Nice brake kit, another oftopic question but whats this talk about lexus rotors and nissan callipers ? dose all that just bolt on ? if no what nissan calipers would you need ? Sorry for the off topic question but I am curious Cheers
DeltaV (based in Victoria and run by some guys on the forum) make mounting brakets ('dogbones') to allow you to fit Nissan R32 GTST or Z32 TT callipers to the front of an SW20, with the discs changed to 315mm items from a Lexus LS400. This is what I'm doing. See this link for more info: http://www.deltav.com.au/index.php?option=com_virtuemart&page=shop.browse&category_id=2&Itemid=1

Thats weird re personal import and making changes to sell, the have obviously changed the rules. I didnt have to do anything with mine, the person I bought it off (who brought it in as a personal import) changed the parking lights to white, and fitted a flat mirror to the drivers side (was convex), new tyres.

It's hard for me to make a comparison because the Wilwoods have always been on the car, and it's been about 3 years since I had my first SW20 with stock brakes, so I can't really remember the difference. However, I can say that when I had my car at a track day there was never any brake fade at all, and there wasn't even the slightest smell or any significant amount of heat coming from the brakes straight after a session. They took the abuse in their stride. There are other people on the forum who have done the swap from stock to Wilwoods more recently, so they can hopefully give a better answer.

4 piston I think. It probably sounds weird that I don't know for certain, but again I didn't fit the brakes myself and I haven't needed to change the pads before so I've never had a proper look at the pistons. The brakes will probably be removed from the car next week so I'll be able to properly check this along with the dimensions of the discs and so on. Maybe I shouldn't have started this thread before checking these things, but I wanted to gauge interest from you guys.

Well, the car itself has only done about 70,000km in it's 21 year life so far, and it's only been in Australia for about 5 of those years. I don't know how long it had been in Australia before the Wilwood brakes were fitted. The worst case is that the brakes have had 70,000km / 5 years of use, but I think it's more likely to be about 10-20,000km over 2-3 years. I don't want to swap for gen 3 brakes sorry, that's why I'm doing the conversion to Nissan callipers and Lexus discs.

FYI, after having a quick look today (with the Wilwoods still on the car), at a guess I would say there is about 1 inch of clearance between the Wilwood callipers and my 18 inch wheels. This means that 17 inch wheels should fit over them quite easily, but 16 inch wheels would probably be marginal. Once I get proper dimensions with the Wilwoods removed, people with 16 inch wheels will be able to check if it will work for them.

I am definitely selling the Wilwoods, I already have the parts for a new brake setup. As soon as the Wilwood parts are removed (some time this week) I'll want to sell them ASAP. I've already had quite a few people tell me that they are interested, but a few of them have 16 inch wheels which may or may not fit over the Wilwoods. I'll be getting proper dimensions and more photos ASAP once the Wilwoods are removed from the car, so the interested people can determine if the brakes will fit inside their wheels. If there ends up being lots of people who are interested, I will probably end up selling the kit to whoever offers a better price.
