It should only be an issue if you are running these items for an extended time without the car running. Ie if you have 2 big amps and are cranking out the phat beats while washing the car for a few hours, then this puts a big drain on the battery. or if you leave your lights on for hours forgetting to turn them off after parking etc.

nah mines warning me after about 10mins of music 2 amps, HU and 4 opening ceremony gauges. no lights ON ill look into the new wiring for the fan on a seperate relay might even look into using the stock eng bay temp sensor to run a fan in the engine lid see how we go, knowign me it will be a while before anything is done.

the guages doing a welcome dance will drain sfa current. go to a battery place and they will test your batt under load (most do this for free) and will tell you if you battery is gone. from past experience, after 3yrs or so old, if the battery starts playing up, its best to replace it if you need reliability. Some keep going for a while, some die shortly after, some misbehave randomly. cheers

just dont run your stereo without the engine running? i dont recommend you do that anyway. Lots of news euro cars can log how long your drives are in time and kilometers (in some cases the actual time you drove), the voltage % at that time, they can measure current violations/drain, shut down control units so the car can start, reset them if theyre drawing current etc. We have customers who drive maybe 2 kilometers a day, leave the car ignition on listening to music and then come in complaining that the time and date have lost their memory etc. Anyway check your entire voltage system (alternator, battery, how big the cabling is etc) and actually measure your current draw to see whats happening rather than guessing. Oh and obviously fix the main fan issue.

yeah i try not to run the stereo with the car not running, but the exhaust ruins it lol, if it just run the stereo ill get maybe 2 mins of music before i have to start the car. so ill be checking the voltage system to see whats happening. yes iil have to take it somewhere to fix the fan thanks

Simplest way to control a hi-flow IC fan is to run it off the stock fan connector. If its drawing excessively high current, or you want to run engine lid fans, wire an external relay off the same connector, supplying battery voltage directly to the fans. Get a hold of a boost pressure switch, such as a Spearco 3psi or an adjustable one, and wire it to open circuit the stock engine lid temp sensor. Low tech, but effective. The fan (s) will run at stock engine bay temp setting and/or the onset of boost.

OK just to finish off this thread i took the plug off the FAN ECU and bridged the black white wire(pin1) with the blue white wire (pin7) fan now runs constantly when car is ON and isnt tripping the fuse or anything cheers

Do you know what that berk fan is rated to? I think the problem is weird. I have changed my ic fan to a 9" fan and dont notice any problems, the fan is on all the time and the wire is also feeding a relay for a second fan. I even changed the 20A fuse to a 15A and it doesnt blow. What i have noticed though is that if i disconnect the 9" fan so the wire feed the relay only, the second relayed fan stops after 5 sec or so.

Nodde, the same thing was happening to me. trips off after running for a few (10 or so ) sec. its the fan ecu tripping im sure as muman suggested -- is you RED fan light coming on in the dash??? not sure what the berk fan is rated at but its the 850cfm one.

i forgot to update this thread My fan is now working all the time, thanks this thread here http://www.mr2oc.com/showthread.php?t=339861&highlight=intercooler+fan+ecu refer post number 22 for what i did to fix the issue. i found a bettr thread with pics explaining how to do it properly but now cannot find that thread. for those havign the same issue and wanting to do the same. the fan ecu is where the wires need to be jumpered, its the small black box in the boot next to the actual ECU itself.. pull the plug out of the fan ecu and follow the steps mentioned in the above thread in post no. 22 cheers
