Ok so i have found where the leak is coming from, there is a hole on both supply and return pipes for coolant underneath the car closer to the engine that has thread in it roughly 20cm appart? so something is supposed to be there, any chance you guys know what it is? i can only assume that maybe there is a hose that is supposed to go from one whole to the other, heres something i just wiped up on paint.....

It sounds like your talking about the coolant drain plugs in the two steel lines that run th length of the cabin.

Check where those pipes attach to the body once you have replaced those drain plugs. The drivers side on early cars like yours leaks from where the brazed tab is along these pipes due to them being solidly mounted and vibration they incurr.

Later model and replacement parts are rubber insulated to stop this.

The pipes i am talking about are smaller pipes situated above the fuel tank on either side of the tunnel. These are different to the coolant pipes you mention but still should checked once you replace those drain plugs.

hey guys, i have put a deposit down for an nsx today, so due to lack of space im going to have to get rid of the mr2, its booked in for the panel beaters for the 29th of this month, but ill be getting the nsx before then and have no space for the mr2. Since my last post the car now has new (used) fans + shroud, radiator, and condensor, i have installed the fans and radiator as the panel beater required the car to run. the car no longer has any coolant leaks as i replaced the coolant drains plugs that where missing. The main faults with the car, besides the panel damage is electronic, indicators work but hazards only not when you use the stork, horn does not work, and fans are not switching on and off, seems to be a problem with the relay. if anyone is interested give me a call on 0400 82 82 16.
i would like around $2500.00 which is what i paid for the car, before i received the working radiator, fans, and condensor.
I have sold the 17" wheels, but still have the body kit which is free for whoever buys the car. the car is drivable (may need jump start) but has no plates or rego, so the buyer will need to aquire a vic rds permit, or just toe it.

Ill make a proper fs thread when i get some updated pictures of the car.

It is a common fault to have the drain plugs in the two steel coolant pipes that run from the radiator to the engine, rust and corrode away. I have had it happen to two SW-20's I have. Maybe the previous owners did not use high quality coolant or did not replace the coolant at the required intervals. I have replaced mine with stainless steel plugs (bolts cut off).

Good luck with your project & welcome to the world of mid engine sports cars. I know you are going to love the cars as much as the rest of us here do.

I look forward to hearing how you get on with the restoration.
