These bolts are meant to be lower you dwat. Dunno about this getup.... Tilton ring is more of a circular plate.. Not even freakin close. That ring gear is meant to sit inside the bellhousing 5-6mm. Not outside of it.

I don't know what im going to do right now. All I know is I need a freakin clutch that fits. I'm pretty sure that Jim wouldn't be very forthcoming with the $2000 he owes me for the clutch side of the job. Especially seeing as he's had to modify so much poo poo.
So where does that leave me? freaked. Did your BMW mate ever get a clutch that ended up actually fitting?
Mate, this car is the epitome of bad luck. I should just burn it now whilst I'm still partially sane.

it did but took 3 goes and ba$1ardising a perfectly good bit of kit just like yourself. he now has a BMW sachs cover with porsche pressure plate and some weird ferrari clutch friction disc with a sleeve for the release bearing from a audi:(
the amount of times we have had the box out of that BMW is too long to list.
we also had to change the fork pivot and releieve the inside of the box like you did........

Yeah, what a load of poo poo. This could have been made to fit with some simple flywheel alterations. If I'd have known all this hassle was going to ensue I would have never entertained his idea. Now I feel like I've gone borked a perfectly good bit of kit and at this stage, I still don't have something that'll fit and will probably need a new flywheel anyway?! freaking hell.
I opted to pay the extra money compared to other joints to get it done by someone who was deemed the best in their field. I wouldn't be so damn annoyed if it didn't seem like hes just left me in the lurch now. I'll be test fitting this weekend for measurements, tell him how much more room I need, and telling him to sort it. I paid him for a clutch to fit my MR2. Not an overpriced paperweight.
So over getting arsed around by anyone I have to deal with.

i find that jim seems to think his the best and has weird ideas that he tries instead of going down the proven path.
these two stories arn't the only stories ive heard and thats dissapointing seeing as though his held in such a high regard.

He keeps asking me what its hitting on. Well, freakin everything really. Nothing I can just grind away, unless I want the output shaft falling onto the lap of my clutch. Just remove the bellhousing he says, and remove some material. The bellhousing is 1 piece with the casing! "Oh, its one of those integrated things is it?" YES!

hahahaha some parts suppliers/mechanics/fabricators really have no idea and give the trade such a bad name.
if you don't know about something don't just assume cutting bits off work!

Yes, he likes to do unusual poo poo, instead of keeping it simple.. Seems to think everyones design is flawed. Seems to love the Sachs items though. This is freaked, all I want is a useable clutch, or some sort of refund and I'll take my business elsewhere. [:-(]

+1 for the OS twin plate.
Stick it out because it will be worth it. I had similar feelings at a couple of points in my build but when it is all together and flat out at 7000 you smile and go "F*&k yeah - this is where it's at"

I've just put up a WTB on oc forums for any tilton kit that might still be floating around, even they aren't a total bolt in solution as they use the hydraulic release bearing which has to be retrofitted to the bellhousing. At least they fit at all. I don't know how I'd go get any sort of refund for my clutch though, even though its unused, as he pretty much makes them to order (although obviously not made quite right). Stressing me the freak out. [:(!][:(!][:(!][:(!][:(!][:(!]
