I tell you what he'll say right now, leave the exhaust ports smaller then the manifold to assist in stopping reversion. The stepped ledge leading back into the exhaust ports creates a restriction for reversions gases.

Now, IMHO this would probably be more of a problem in NA cars where you have to depend on correct flow of exhaust (and inlet) gases to increase volumetric efficiency (a turbo masks alot of VE issues on an engine). Also, as its my intent to run divided manifold twin scroll setup (run correctly with two gates) I don't think reversion of exhaust gases will be too much of a problem for me. So yes, in some applications, I would probably agree that not port matching the exhaust ports wouldn't be a bad idea. In my particular application though I feel it could be beneficial.

Was like a little kid at christmas today. Two parcels in the one day!

First one was from the UK. My Iwata W400 WBX spray gun as well as 3M full face mask, new air reg/filter for my compressor & a digital on gun pressure regulator. The gun was a late x-mas/b'day present from the old man. I figured I should get some other bits and pieces whilst I was making an order so got the other gear. Some form of breathing apparatus is basically a necessity when spraying paints containing isocyanates.

Package one, spray painting goodies. Air reg has already been fitted up to my compressor, got a gun cleaning kit as well.

Second parcel was some remaining goods I had on order from TitanMotorsports, the Fedex lady dropped it off late this afternoon, much to my Mrs disgust. Took a small eternity, but they arrived. In the package were two Tial MVS wastegates in black, with 1.5bar springs, a weldon fuel pressure regulator (with -8 return port to suit the Weldon 2025-A pump i will be using) and Kris' Aeromotive fuel pressure gauge. I will be using my AIM dash to sample fuel pressure readings.

The delay on this parcel was primarily the Tial gates, there were on backorder with Tial. This did mean in the end I got the V2 gates though which is pretty cool. You'll see why in the pics below.

Tial MVS wastegate. I purchased these due to the tiny size allowing me to easier package two in the engine bay. I am sure the downside of this size is diaphram overheating in circuit applications where the gate will be seeing sustained boost pressure. So, guess what... they watercooled the V2 MVS gates! I saw the little package in the box that had water cooled fittings on it, and was like "WTF?" and scratched my head for a bit.

If you have a look at the gate, you can see a h2o marked above one of the little ports there. There are a couple of galleries machined into the gate and a second water fitting on the other side. Fancy!



Ah well, guess I should start to pull my finger out, buy my turbo and some weld el's and begin fab work on the new manifold. I need to borrow Trav's lego set ;)

Paint overall will stay the same at current. Going to spray the engine bay though. Also gotta do some touch ups on the evo (repair a bit of left over parking damage on the front bar and fix a dent on the bonnet that some freaker put there in the last couple of weeks).

Also want to touch up front lip as it got carnaged coming off the tow truck right after I painted it last.

On top of that I am also looking for some different skirts to fix, so I'll need to spray them when I get them. So basically, its a tool I've been hunting for a while, just too expensive to justify getting myself in the past.

New goals, good question. I was looking at the largest Borg Warner S300SX series turbo and a goal of around 700whp, but we'll see. My intent is to get some of the modified bosch 2000cc injectors (like Injector dynamics/FIC, would prefer to find the bare injector as I can have my own adapters turned for little cost). The fuel pump I've got is rated at 1400hp on a forced induction petrol engine. It should be more then adequate for my goals on E85 (I am going to buy a 44gal drum of it if I have to, hopefully find a couple of mates willing to run it so that it'll get used before it goes off).

I have found a 2GR for $2750, however, its a whole lot of freaking around, for unknown results. Also very costly with the number of custom one off parts I'll need to have fabricated/machined. Not even my carbonetics clutch will be of any use on such a build. So, for now, until I win the lottery, think I might stick with the current donk.

Why don't you get your car running you nutcase. Get it driving, you can finish the other little mods later.

No, my last post was in relation to your car, and that you should get the thing on the road. I recall in another thread you said it was temporarily on hold.

Yeah, I can relate to that. Whats required to make it run though, not complete the project. Surely the mechanicals are pretty much there?
