Pulled marks out with the engien in, was a hassle as it was geting jammed between the compressor housing and other stuff, thankfully, my compressor houasing is in a different location, so I may have more luck.

Engine is going in today. Where are you Daniel! :) I could use an extra hand today. Got a few small things this morning like resizing some braided lines that are already attached to the fuel tank (Yay, means doing them in the car) and confirming everything is tight before fitment. I found the 1/2" to 3/8" adapter so im considering pulling the tranny briefly to confirm torque on the clutch cover bolts. As mentioned before, I just did these up 'tight' as I couldn't find an adapter for the socket bit I was using so only had a 3/8" breaker bar to work with.

Need another volunteer :)

Well, called in the troops, decided to pull the transmission and torque the clutch cover bolts to correct spec just for peace of mind.

Went around and checked everything was nice and tight. Mark had poo poo leaking everywhere upon starting his engine, I didn't want the same issues. Semi tidied and tied up things around the engine to ensure the task would be as simple as possible with minimum of hookups, then lowered the engine onto a creeper and pushed it beneath the car ready for raising.

Usually at this point I'd lower the car some so you dont have to lift the engine as high to get to the mounts, but seeing as I still have a number of things to do under the car, I didn't really want to do this. So up she went. After a bit of nudging around to get the mounts aligned it was in.

Now the real challenges begin, like how to fit everything in this mess. I've got to get an IC pipe from the turbo outlet to the IC inlet towards the firewall, then from the IC outlet to the throttlebody. I had some 3" bends purchased already, and have a number of silicon joiners (which I'm going to have to cut down to make the turns as tight a possible). I will probably end up having to buy a aluminium 3" donut as well for the 90degree turn into the throttlebody. Following that, need to get a 4" pipe to fit in with an airfilter attached. The currently 9" long filter I have will definitely not fit, so I'm going to swap it for my mates 4.5"(??) long filter. Fun fun fun! :(

haha, after my mechanic finished installing an SM4 into my sw20 he swore never to do one again. Its suuch a big job lol. I was watching him put one into a skyline GTR, couldnt believe how much wiring is involved..

already got 4" 45 degree mandrel bent pipe and a 4" inlet 9" long filter, I think I'll swap filters wth mark, he can have my long one and I'll take his stumpy one.

As for the wiring, really doesn't phase me, its not hard, just time consuming to do a nice neat job. I'm not auto electrician, but I do guess I do have some sort of knowledge being an apprentice electrical fitter mechanic (ie, sparky). Im used to wiring protection relays and what not in substation panels. Makes the autronic wiring diagram look like a preschool drawing.

Wont start on the loom now till I get most of the other stuff sorted. I need to have the car as complete as possible to move - it doesn't really matter if it dont run yet.

is there room to rotate the cooler 90 degrees around the strut top mount
if you reverse one end tank it should then line up for a straight run from the compressor outlet
then you only require a single 90 degree bend to get from the cooler to the throttle body
extremely short inlet tract with minimal restriction=maximum response

it's looking good where did you buy you intercooler from and could you modify you tubo so the outlet faced up and then just use a 90deg bend to hook it up to your IC..

IC is a Precision Turbo item from the states. How will I connect it? with great difficulty. Probably use a donut section & 90 degree silicone joiner & straight joiner onto the TB.

With race juice, yes, street tune I'm hoping for 450-500WHP.

Wow that is going to destroy on the street! Did you "run into some money" or did you rob a bank? lol. That's alot of cash going into that car...should be awesome once it's done.

Spent a few hours on the car today. Lowered it down (using an engine crane on fully loaded rear end - eeeek! and on top of that I was lifting from motor lift points, probably stretched my headbolts, hehehe).

Anyway, screwed around a bit. Had a mate come help me lift the crossmember in yesterday (I don't really remember what else I did yesterday - obviously not much, probably sat there dumbfounded at where I was going to fit everything).

Today I got to work bolting in the coilovers and suspension and fixing a little issue of the whiteline sway bar bar fouling on the CV boots. I then proceeded to torque up the crossmember and engine mounts before lowering the car down to a more workable level.

After doing this, I fitted the brass shifter bushes I got here and fastened the shifter cables in place - in the process, working out my screamer pipe needed moving - requiring removal of the wastegate, fun fun!

At this stage, having had enough fun rolling around in the dirt (its a concrete floor, but its covered in dirt - heavy rain a while back washed a poo poo load of dirt in there). I decided I'd have another gander at the spaghetti fest that is my engine bay. Cut up some aluminium pipe and some silicone joiners to length and managed to shoehorn some intercooler piping & air intake in there. The air intake is still quite dodgy, its very hard up against the long coolant pipe that runs from the firewall to the engine. I may just leave it like that, the only issue at the moment is it very slightly kinks the hose. With water & some pressure in the pipe though there should be no problem. I'll reassess later. Also, the 90 degree pipe into the throttlebody needs to be a tighter radius, however, this should do for the moment. I'll mark locations to have the BOV, PCV return (into intake tube) & bung for IAT sensor welded in the morning, then pull apart all my good work (the piping) and start the wiring process. To get this done nice and neat (and knowing my motivation issues, haha) I'd guess the wiring will be done by next weekend. I've still got to work out where to mount the fuel pressure regulator. Its bloody tight in the engine bay and im fast running out of room. Either thinking of mounting it to the side of fuse box or low down under where im going to have my custom coolant filler mounted (pretty much same position as factory - the factory bracket didn't fit for me anymore though :() If I can't get it on any of those two positions I may need to mount it on the firewall somewhere.

I ordered some parts from Toyota (USA) last week. Few bits and pieces I lost and some replacement bits. Got some new quarter windows and associated little air vents coming, as well as a new windscreen rubber, pad for the rear cowl, fog light bracket, throttle cable bracket and a tonne of assorted nuts and bolts as well as a couple of other little brackets I misplaced. When I've got the throttle cable bracket I need to fab up a custom cable bracket (using the factory part to hold the cable). I'll probably route the cable from the driver side across the top of the engine and come in backwards to the throttlebody, fabbings up a bracket off the engine lift hook bracket.

Couple of pics from today:
