Good work, nice to see you take the extra time for the finer details.

Whoever said getting the petrol tank out was hard has never had to put one back in...

Anyway, its back in, covers all back on (except hand brake as I'm having some issues with the rear brakes sticking), fuel filter done and a bunch of parts on the way from Prime Driven and Amayama. Including HFH, HFHOE and exhaust manifold gasket so the new turbo can go in.

Small update:

Tightened the shifter spring and put the skateboard bearing in the links, cleaned up the battery box, pulled out the cluster to have a crack at fixing the rev gauge, fuel gauge and possibly the trip gauge (also will replace on the LEDs while I'm in there).

Ordered a short shifter too.

Keen for my order from Prime Driven and Amayama to arrive so I can get stuck into the turbo.

Try not to remove the needle on the tacho. It's pre tensioned and will read incorrectly if it comes off and on again.

Thanks Jaycrab, I pulled it out and couldn't see any obvious issues with the capacitors. Will probably sit in the too hard basket for a bit now.

Fair enough. Mine looked fine as well, they weren't burnt or discoloured. I figured I couldn't brake it any further and capacitors only cost 30cents. I replaced two and the tacho started working right away. My only issue was the idle was reading at 3,000 (because I removed the needle) so I had to preposition the needle whilst the car was idling.

Nothing but rain here in Vic this weekend and having issues with some manifold studs being stripped and not wanting to come out, so I decided to paint some gear ive had sitting around for years. My border rear pods and stock side mirrors.

Some more photos of the progress on the mirrors:

Need to do some clear coat then they can go on the car (ordered a new mirror glass from Amayama yesterday to replace the broken one)
And did a bit of a test fit of the rear pods (apparently I can drop the exhaust with a few washers so it isnt so snug):

Not a bad colour match, only used a swab book. Car is still super dirty and mirror only has one coat of clear on:

Might leave it like this (more aerodynamics):

Looking good. How old is the white paint on the body? It's funny, I just did my mirrors and shields and have a very similar looking parts box. I guess similar cars have similar issues.

Yeah I've been watching your thread, very similar things happening.

I blew up the turbo then just hit the ground running to do stuff I hadn't bothered doing for years.

The white paint was done back in Japan so over 15 years ago. They did a piss poor job too.
