Still reckon that twin-engine plan has merit! That gives 8 cylinders as well, just not in a V.......

You know your in trouble when you have to move your seat forward so you can fit a motor in behind you.

I imagine changing the plugs in that would be fun...

I like the concept of those Hayabusa V8s, but in my mind they're not a true V8. They use a 180° crank and 75° V angle, so the firing order alternates between banks and is staggered. They wouldn't sound like a V8, the noise would be like two screaming Suzukis racing up the road! Not a bad noise by any means, but you wouldn't get people asking you how you got a V8 in your MR2.

But ......... I'd still have one

Flat plane crank V8 have been used by everyone since forever. I'd like to see you tell a 360/430/458 owner he doesn't have a true V8...

V8s are about perfect balance, smoothness and lazy power. A highly strung, high revving V8 with perfect port tuning, etc. loses the plot a bit! At least the Ferraris are 90° Vs.

I think you about 18 months behind Dennis
The V8 is nice, but you end up cutting and removing half the AW11 to fit it, it starts to become more of a kit car and less of an AW11. The V6's plonk in rather nicely without any cutting.

I reckon the RST V8 would be sweet in an AW11
    quote:

The RST-V8 engine is a compact, lightweight and high-revving 4 cam, 5-valve-per-cylinder all alloy V8.

The base engine envelope is 550mmx550mm with a weight of just 90kg. The RST is available in 2-litre and 2.4-litre normally aspirated variants; the 2-litre producing 380bhp, the 2.4-litre producing either 365bhp or 390bhp depending on specification. A 2.4-litre supercharged variant is now also available producing 500bhp.

So if you were to go real crazy with cutting, construct a spaceframe rear end and make a removable rear panel section a la Lancia 037 . . .

Back yards are full of bright ideas like this.
    My view..save your money.
If i was crazy enought to do this sort of thing again, it would be a Volvo! lol

    4.4Lt DOHC all alloy (190kg) 60deg compact v8..232Kw Volvo/Yamaha built to almost the size of a v6.
