The biggest issue with Shannon's is that they won't insure you unless the car is parked in a lock-up garage every night!

Old thread revival.

I had been insured with YOUI for my previous car (Hyundai Elantra).  They were great to deal with & cheaper than others.  Then when it came to claiming they were better than I expected, again, they were friendly & easy to deal with, plus the money was in the bank within 2 weeks.  They were also good when I rang them for insurance on the MR2.  Still cheaper than others, altho at the time I didn't check Shannon's.  I had checked Shannon's on line & it basically said that they wouldn't insure a Daily unless you had something else insured with them, so didn't do anything about it.  Saw them at a Show N Shine earlier this year & they said they would insure me.  $240 cheaper PA than YOUI & insured for almost $2000 more, so I have changed.  Also cheaper for contents insurance.  When I called YOUI to see if they could match, they couldn't go anywhere close, and the girl I was speaking to said she also had her special cars insured with Shannon's instead of YOUI. lol

Just got my CTP papers.  Went on-line to Shannon's & they are $90 cheaper than anyone else for 6 months.  They don't come up on the any of the "Compare CTP green slip" websites tho.

If you daily drive your car, JustCar is the cheapest. Far cheaper than Shannons I've found (unless you know somewhere there).

If you don't daily drive your 2, many of us are with or are looking to move to NRMA classic car insurance. Higher agreed value than most, much cheaper premium & no ridiculous excesses. Can't remember my premium, but it's definitely below $400 full comprehensive. Only limit is not using it for commuting & mileage restriction (7k per year approx).

I believe Shannons have just recently reviewed their pricing for MR2's that are original and not modified.
I don't know any exact details on their pricing though.

Yeah I know, that's why I hadn't tried them.  But when I actually spoke to someone they said they would.  Give them a call.

Went onto "Just Car"  to have a look.  Yes the premium was less than Shannon's, but the "agreed value" was even less than what YOUI had it at & there was no-where to change it.  So if they would insure it for more the I guess the premium would end up about the same as Shannon's or maybe even more.

I'm with Enthusiats Insurance for both my daily and my 2 (less than 9000kms). I've heard they can be very picky about who they choose and have a limit to number of people they insure. The 2 is under $400

After the 30th Anniversary Event, a few MR2 owners spoke to Shannon's about non performance MR2, and as a result Shannon's have reviewed there pricing policy as at 4 July 2014. Give them a call and mention the MR2 Club. Another benefit of belonging to a car club!

My quote from them was earlier this year, but I've only just taken it up.  Maybe I should have asked for a re-quote.  Ah well I'm still pretty happy with it. They did ask whether I was a member of a club at the time tho.  When I was reading through their stuff they mention that the car is covered when doing Defensive Driver Training which is something I'm considering so that's a good thing too.
I was also very happy about the $90 saving on the green slip for 6 months.

I've got my 96GTS JDM turbo mr2 insured with Shannons, agreed value of $16,000 premium $760 p/yr.  Excess is $400.

Have been with em for yrs, found them to be great, with all my past mr2, either stock standard or highly modified.

I currently have my 2 with Just Car the problem I had was most insurance companies wouldn't insure it as soon as I mentioned it was a JDM turbo import. I was fairly happy with what Just Car quoted me and went with them, interestingly I had also considered Shannons as I had heard good things about them but when I checked online I also saw they didn't offer an option for a daily driven car but by the sound of it I should have given them a call about it.
when my insurance comes up for renewal I will be giving Shannons a call to see how they compare.
