loving this build. You make the fabrication of the piping look so easy, how long you been doing this stuff?

This is only the second time ive done pipes but my fabrication start quite a few years back when i was in car audio building my competition cars.
Im really into the OEM look
I like fabricating from car audio, home audio to furniture.
Just draw it out first and imagine the final product.
Really im posting so as to show how one can do it.
To have a single professional mould made is around $5,000.
I do it for around $100.
You just have to know what materials to use, where to get the aluminium sand casting and then finally a machine shop. And practice

All resins from Solid Solutions. Rubber is 500 , Urethane is 670
aluminium cast from elite castings

both about 10 kms from home.

BTW i should however point out that im a Resin Chemist

Well i got the first machined part beack. It took a long time getting close to the end of the year

Just a pic to show how much bigger this time around. In actual fact i grew it to 3.5 inches making it 3.5 times more area.
Just have to hand finish it and make it even lighter.

You would have also noticed the bigger return 2.75 inch

With the sma;;er 42 mm pipe it made 7 psi now with the 89 mm pipe with 3.6 increase in surface are it should make its maximum

Nice work man. I lot of us are in awe with all the custom work on your car and how OEM it looks.

I look forward to further updates. I'll give you a call during the week.

Ive finally put in the modified return water line.
What a PITA it was had to take a lot off the engine to get to it.
As pictured in the previous post , to make more room for the bigger pipes,
Also what i did was disconnect the hose that is attached to the metal return pipe that goes over the starter. I cut it shorter and reversed it.
All lined up perfectly :) No custom hose required !

Pulled an all nighter last night, am totally stuffed.
Had to make the last to pieces.
As per normal made the moulds, finished them off and was at the foundary at 12.
One hour latter i get a call they have been done ! That is service.
But the machinist is a different story , well lets see.

This piece is after the A/W intercooler. As you can see the side bit is where the Turbo BOV will go

This piece is after the Rotrex, no more 180 degree bends , straight into the intercooler

I wish I had a 10th of your fabrication skills!!

This car is simply amazing. I hope you can make it out to Haunted Hills next month!

I'm sure there will be a queue of people lining up to have a look at it!!

I be damn , all the machining has been done :)
Now all ill have to do is give them a final sanding.
Need to weld up the new intercooler once i tack the inlet and outlet.
Do a final layout check and then get it all powder coated.
Estimated 8 days:)

BTW ive moved the BOV to a better spot. All the pipes are larger with straighter lines, in actual fact a much better set up.

Might have the engine in again in 2 weeks and then to the dyno befor Xmas.

However ill be running it for a month before i put all the body parts back on just to be sure all is good

So these are the last pieces to be machined and i have sanded them a bit and ready for powder coating.

The first piece pictured is straight after the intercooler. It goes from 2.5 to 2.75 inch.
I shortened the piece to half the length of the original with only a 45 degree bend. Also it has the machined side for the BOV . MUCH more accessable.

The next piece was the pipe after the ROTREX . Originally it was a S bend with one 180 bend and a 90 degree bend.
Well now its onely one 90 degree bend also it goes from 1.75 to 2.5 inch and straight into the intercooler. It was welded into place to save space.

Also while i was at it my builder said to fix the inlet to the SC for better flow.
So the inside edge of the inlet is left as the sand casting with a lip near the blades.
So we machined it straight, then loctited a machined piece of aluminium into it.
Then we machined the opening with a tapper down to the blades

Thought i would show my Rotrex bracket just in case someone has missed it.
It uses the alternator mounting locations

My inlet line to the Rotrex. MUCH BIGGER With smoother flowing lines

And here is a comparison with the old one infront. Big difference

Will post a few more pics tomorrow as my camera was full
