No worries.
When I finally get around to bothering to buy a MAP ECU3, I plan to tune for 'lean cruise' where basically I'll attempt to lean it out past 14.7:1 probably closer to 16.5:1 and see how that goes. Of course this is dependent on EGTs and other factors. 
For full power under WOT/boost you really want to be aiming for about ~11.5:1 AFR, which should really open up the top end and smooth out the power curve.

ok so after a long day, i did something a little stupid. pulled off the pillar pod, and removed the old drift gauge, stupid me cracked the drift gauge - there goes my resale value... 
  
and i realised i don't have the gauge fasteners i need to put the pod back on.  argh.  I need something like this http://www.amazon.com/Aut...astener/dp/B000CIL7LQ. Hope they have something like this at autobarn.   
  
Also on the weekend headed down to portsea for a lovely weekend. Took some pics of the car out the front of our house for the weekend :)

Truboost is in.... (solenoid isn't yet though).

I prefer analog boost gauges, but at least this matches the AFM, and looks right :)
 
not a bad little setup for $260 delivered tho. 
 
The only things left for my interior is to get a DVD nav headunit, and to glue the carpet to my sub box. Then I'm done with the interior :) (I know I've said that before)
I did have my sights set on the appradio 2 from Pioneer, but discovered today that there are no supported GPS apps for Australia :( which is kind of lame. Might still get one, as I'll use tomtom on the phone anyway, but it's a definite letdown!
 
Oh I need to repair my seat too - bolster stitching has come apart on the drivers side... where's that needle and thread gone? :P
 
Next on the list is installing the boost controller solenoid (I've got instructions and understand exactly where it goes, shouldn't be too hard) and then intercooler (when the shroud and blockoff plate arrives... ).
 
Then ECU...... THAT should be a long process. :|
 
 
I'm Also looking at getting an ADM front numberplate cover - does anyone have one they'd want to swap for a JDM one? My custom plates are only 3 letters, and it looks a bit crap  http://www.mr2australia.c...6;55960&where=msg.  Are they swappable?

Ok boost solenoid is fitted now. T-VSV side of the actuator, is plugged, i didn't plug the tube going to the T-VSV, not sure if that will matter or not.
 
I've tuned the controller for the max boost i can before i hit boost cut.  GRR i can't seem to disable the cut.  I've plugged the map sensor tube.  It must be measuring the difference between the manifold pre and post turbo or something.
 
looking forward to installing my Intercooler.............  but i'm still waiting on parts...

Happy Valentines day to me - got the fan shroud  and blockoff plate this morning.  Will be hopefully installing this on the weekend.  I spent a lot of last night going over ECU pinouts on the MT8. So glad I have the patch loom from Just_ace. It's going to make the job 10000x easier!
 
Tonight's task is to confirm that the car's loom side pinouts are the same as are wired in the patch and then I'll be able to test install it!

i hope the patch loom makes it easier, at the time i understood it all, but when i was looking at it before sending, it blew my brain into a million pieces.......
 
yours is a REV 1? if so pinouts should be the same, mine was rev1.

ok so braved the mozzies outside and had a look at the ECU for the part code etc and had a look at the loom....
 
I have exactly the same ECU parts code as RobK has (and very excellently worked out all my pin configurations for me)

I'm going to check the patch loom i have to make sure it's correct for my car.
 
but check out what i found on my existing loom:
 

some splicy splicy has been done to it. but that's not all - there was a WIRE DISCONNECTED! 
 
Now this got me investigating. I pulled the plugs and had a look at what pins had been spliced and the disconnected wire.
The DC'ed wire was:
PIM = Turbo pressure sensor (stock MAP sensor) = Blue/Black
 
spliced wires:
E01 = Ground = Brown
IGF = Igniter feedback = White/Red
VS = AFM (air flow meter signal) = Yellow/Blue
VTA = TPS (Throttle Position Sensor signal) = White
+B = Power from EFI main relay = Black/Yellow
 
So I think it's pretty clear to me this car had a piggyback fuel computer at some point!!
 
Now this got me thinking.
when i was installing the boost controller, i was still hitting boost cut.
if the PIM plug is disconnected, and the tube was disconnected previously, anyways.
HOW the heck was i hitting boost cut (code 34)?!??! 
was it BECAUSE the PIM was disconnected, and i dunno the AFM was reading too high a volume?? edit: or maybe the ecu was detecting knock, and when it checks the PIM, it just fuel cut's the car instead of doing it's closed loop timing retard, who knows - i wish we had access to the MR2 ECU source code :(
REALLY weird!

hmmm i'd guess maybe an apexi safc was in there, that mucks with AFM sig's to screw your engine....lol.
 
but yeh dunno why boost/fuel cut with PIM disconnected? would've thought the CEL would always be on with the PIM dc'd.

I was thinking an SAFC too :) STUPID piggybacks...
REALLY weird with the PIM.  unless my ECU is F**ked..... i dunno WEIRD.  
 
UNLESS:
X is actually happening, which normally would be ok, but as the PIM line is cut, it just goes "stuff this" and puts it into protection mode. Fuel cut is happening and it's throwing code 34 because the line is cut, but it's masking the actual problem.  I'll take the car out for a drive on thurs and see if i can get around fuel cut with the line plugged in. I vaguely remember me noticing this before, and finding that it didn't actually make a difference :\ Anyways once the MT8 is in, won't have this issue :)

ok so got to test the car today.  Drove with the pim line plugged in to get some food and upped the duty on the boost controller to 88 (miles per hour :P) had it boosting at 13.6psi no problems :)
 
Then got back home and moved the ECU into the spare room, and what did i find in the davis craig fan packet? the exact relay i need for the ECU.
 
Love my car!  I'm actually having second thoughts on putting the ECU in to be honest though.  Now that the boost cut problem is fixed, and the AFRs are still ok at higher boost.  Im thinking it may not be needed. I just don't have enough mods to justify paying for it to be tuned at least anyways.  Will think it over though.  I do intend to go a nicer turbo at a later point in time, but will probably need to build an engine to support it. :|

Ok ECU will be going in :p
 
After driving round i got a little hesitation high in the rev range which would be the ECU retarding the timing... hard to check the AFR while moving under heavy acceleration, but i'm getting mid 11s (not too bad), running max 13.2psi.
