Looking great Daz!!
With cutting the wheel arches, as long as you have clearance for the rubber to go behind the fibreglass skin, I would be very careful you dont cut too much, ie keep it nice and tight to the tyre, which IMO looks better than a larger gap above the tyre, if you know what I mean.
Those rims look great too.

Re cutting the arches, I wanted jthem to look like these i.e. really high and "thin" above the wheel - you can see this particularly oin the front fender - problem is to get this look there needed to be structural work done to the strut towers, both front and rear (MASSIVE COST); I actually think that now they're on, the front frenders look fine and don;t need cutting; sure trhey look a bit plain at the moment until the lines are cut in and the smoked black side repeaters are installed - shgould break up that plan area nicely; Re the rears, I am going to cut the arch maybe 40mm higher than it currently is sitting. the wheels/fluchness are so spot oin it 's unreal, and the rubber tucks into the arch in any case - there really is a lot of room undeneath those rear wheel wells; As a note to all who are following this build - thanks! I really appreciate the responses when they come through and it helps motivation when things are going slowly (or backwards!) - Thanks guys (and girls?) [:I] So the SP at the moment is I collect the car, unpainted but body woirk finished on 15th March - cant wait now like. The last tgim I went (last set of pics) was the first toime in all my visits where a broad smile crept over my face and before i realised it I was beaming - good good feeling man, I can tell you - makes projects like these worthwhile [;^)]

I agree your offset is spot on, the wheels come right up to the edge of the guards, and already looks much better than the front arch pic of the other finished car a few posts back.
do the other cars have a different kit? the height of the guards above the wheels is very thin, i see what you mean now. i wouldn't be to worried about the height of the guard above the wheel, more critical i think is the gap between the top of the tyre and wheel arch. Either way, its looking great, and not long to go now!!
Have you decided on the colour?
Cant wait to see it in the flesh.
Cheers

And here's the actual ultra widebody demonstrator that inspired the whole project.. Minus the spoiler, i think this car looks pretty perfect. Have researched the web looking for trace sof it but couldn't find anything; if anyone has any info I would be very gratefull?

Arches cut both sides, body lines cut in: So in discussion today, just a few jobs to complete now in the finishing stages before paint: wheel arches finish and neaten; wheel arch liners fit; side repeaters fit (position agreed); black mesh to front bar "mouth"; rear bar re-fit (slightly off line in pic above); final edges to be radius'd where lines are currently sharp; rear lights/panel to be bolted in; general finishing work; final panel gaps/lines touched up; then she's ready for paint prep.. [:p]

Looks awesome, not far to go now logistically wise for the body...
I hope you have more luck on the mechanical side than you have dealt with on the body side!!!

Cheers all - yeh, a bit of luck with the paint work would not go amiss first, so I can actually get her back on the road rego'd and wot-not. Have had all the works done properly and fully without shortcuts, so hopefully there are no problems with it over the pits, then we can start to get the V6 engine process going. quote: Are you fitting a spoiler or keeping it nude?
Defo staying spoiler-less as I prefer this look on the widebody - by the way Arty, our friend Steve said you were in these parts a few weeks back and you wanted to come down and have a look at it; any time pal, just let us know!

Daz, its awesome.
Just re-read your first three pages. At that point I would have tried the petrol and match method.
Theres a car up for sale on evilbay now with a widebody kit, they didn't do the bootlid so it looks wrong, i dont think they have done the wheel calculation as well as you have either.
Have to be a 'suggest-o-fiend' but why don't yo update your sig so we can see your plans for colour and engine easily?
You are going v6 turbo right? Not that I know any logistics or price but why not s/c v6?

yeh first three pages make me laugh now! Just had a look on ebay but couldn't see the car you mentioned, but from what y'ove said the rear quarters would just stick out and leave the boot set in too far. Am not sure how this looks but it doesn't sound so good, though to each their own eh..
Have been happy with the way the wheels fit - was quite worried at one stage, but they fit flush and unless yuolook closely you can't really tell the rear is a 19" and the front is an 18". V6 turbo plans are all in the post somewhere, around pages 7, 8 or maybe 9 - will have a look at updating my signature, but there's only a little space and I don't want to talk it up until it's all in there!! Wouldn't want to put a curse on it - almost had a blow out coming home after thinking "this car's really reliable - runs like a dream!!" regards my mate's civic which he has most gracioulsy loaned me for the period whilst I wait for my car to be painted..
The engine plans shuold detail why am going turbo rather than s/c, mostly it's down to discussions between me and the engine builder, a guy named tristan who runs WTF autos in WA. He used to post on here, not sure of his post name though. He's built 550rwhp sequential twin turbo engine set up on a 1MZ-FE which I went for a razzle in and was blown away! The build I'm getting uses the same block and it's solid so a good and proven platform to build from. Might have to start a different thread once this is finished, though not sure - will certainly be outting a showroom thread of the finished article when am done!
