Thanks Steve, I was considering that, as I want to reduce the chances of needing to have the engine removed again.

The ATS racing CV's look like a good upgrade but there is a supplier to the Sports Compact Series in the U.S. who provide some impressive CV/driveshafts for the MR2.

So, as of tomorrow my car will be off the road for a while. I'm waiting on parts from Gorilla Industries too, so hopefully that won't take too much longer.
For those of you who are interested, my mechanic is 'MRC Dyno Services and Performance'. Their address is 26/44 Carrington Road Castle Hill, which happens to be next door to Adaptronic where I work

Just sent Mark a PS pump for his skyline :)

Well here we go...progress!
Now that I've got a look at the disassembled engine, it is very reassuring to see that it appears to be in extremely good condition. The turbo has hardly any play, for example, and the cylinder bores still look very good (not that it will matter a great deal with my 1 step oversized CP forgies).
I always believed the amazing 60,000km odometer reading because the car has always felt great...but now I can also believe that the engine has only done that many kms too.
I took a bunch of pictures, because I was excited, and because it is currently a COMPLETELY stock engine, so the photos may prove to be a useful reference to someone at some point (it is a 1990 Gen 2 3SGTE)...

nice progress.

the crw cv upgrade is good value for money and doesn't just supply you with the cages themselves (full replacements)

If anyone wants a photo of something specific on the stock Gen 2 3SGTE engine, let me know ASAP before it all goes back together!

Now I have something else that I can work on while the engine is out...

As you can see, I have a soft spot for Pioneer for some reason [:P]

AVIC-F910BT head unit, including GPS, same as jezza-boii's:

12 inch sub:

4 channel amp, 2 channels will be bridged for the sub, and the other 2 will be for my existing Kenwood door speakers:

Installation kit:

Thanks man, now I have to sort out a sub enclosure...suggestions? Should I buy one or will I have to make one to suit anyway?

There aren't really a lot on the market. You're better off custom making one yourself. Then you know it will be exactly the way you want it And potentially alot lighter. Some of them weigh a ton!
