I just got a reply from Josh/CRW.

I sent him this picture and asked him to clarify some things, just because I was interested. The picture is from the twos r us website and I added the numbers 1-3 to make it clearer.

Josh said that I will be receiving exactly what is in that picture.
He said #1 and #2 are similar to stock, but #3 (I assume that's the 'cage') is thicker and a different design to stock. I also asked him about the ball bearings and he said there's nothing special about those, but when he fits them he may use some slightly oversized ones to achieve a good tight fit.

Rob. Exactly the same kit as I received. Also my car must have already had an upgraded set when I purchased it as we could see absolutely no physical difference in the cage dimensions between the CRW supplied kit and the cages already in the car (except the pieces of very used gasket attached to the CRW cage).   You may also prefer to use different boot banding clamps to those supplied with the kit. If you do I have the appropriate tool you can borrow.

That'll be a good investment. I've been too lazy to buy it.....

I've finished updating the turbo-to-intercooler piping yet again. I hope this will end all of the related issues forever, but I've said that before!

I decided to go ahead with the s**t job of removing the turbo compressor cover while the rest of the turbo was still in the car, then my friend welded a cast alloy 90 degree elbow directly onto the compressor cover. The alloy elbow goes into a silicon double hump hose and then there's a very short aluminium pipe into a big silicon reducer on the A2W intercooler. The double hump hose and reducer combined should allow plenty of movement when the engine rocks up and down.

Previously I had a silicon 90 degree elbow off the compressor, then a metal pipe to the silicon reducer on the A2W intercooler. If the pipe beading and/or clamps weren't working perfectly, then at ~30psi of boost the big 90 degree silicon elbow was able to move/expand far enough to allow the piping to pop out of the silicon elbow or the reducer (I can only assume that this was the cause of all the problems before). Also, without heat shielding the 90 degree silicon elbow failed at the track due to its proximity to the exhaust manifold.
The new setup should hopefully eliminate all of those problems. With the solid 90 degree elbow off the turbo, there is now very little room for anything to pop out of the clamps, and there are better beads on the piping this time. Also, there is no longer a silicon elbow right near the exhaust manifold, so I shouldn't have to worry about that anymore either.

Now I just have to get the brake booster, master cylinder and CRW CV joints installed, then I'll be ready for more drag racing and track days.

Yaaaay! The 1 inch master cylinder, 1995 SW20 brake booster, vacuum check valve and CRW heavy duty inner CV joints were all installed today.

The brake pedal is now much firmer and at a good height, exactly as I wanted. It feels perfect on the street so far, but I have to wait for the roads to dry up so I can try some more aggressive braking.

The CRW CV joints went in with no trouble at all as well.

The only bad news is that I was made aware that at least one of my engine mounts is shot. I was probably just used to it so I didn't realise, but after they told me I started to really notice it. That will be the next thing on the list.

I have been using the heavy duty ones that Terry makes. I recommend them. No issues.

I had a set of TRD engine mounts on my old SW20 and they were great. Firmer but without the nasty vibrations you can get with others.
Probably hard to find a new set these days. I think Dylan (Gorilla Ind) helped me get them from Japan. Wasn't that expensive either. Comes as a set of four.

Yeah, I've got the tezza tuffy ones too. I noticed a small increase in vibs but it's not too bad.

I used the Kirkosaurus inserts into the factory bushes and threaded another bolt into the front mount (threads pull out of the transmissions over time), firm but not much extra vibrations.

When you say Terry do you mean Road and Track? I couldn't see anything on their website.
It would be good to know more about those before I buy something like the kirkosaurus ones that Trav mentioned.

I did some more research and I think Road and Track / Terry's mounts might be the best for me (because they wouldn't cause excessive vibrations), BUT I just called Terry and unfortunately he only has 4 names on the waiting list and he needs a group of at least 10 before he gets a batch made.
Ideally I want to fix my mounts ASAP, so I may still choose the Kirkosaurus option. At least they use polyurethane inserts around the original rubber, unlike the Speed Source or Innovative ones which are solid polyurethane.

I'm not sure sorry Rick. You would probably have to call Road and Track yourself on (07) 3201 8866, or email them.

I don't know if they are available as a set of 4. I will probably only upgrade the front and rear mounts on my car.
EDIT: I'm not sure about the cost.

In case anyone is wondering, my understanding is that Terry at Road and Track gradually collects a batch of stock rubber engine mounts (shipped to him from other MR2 owners) and when he has a big enough batch he then sends them off to someone else who removes the original rubber and replaces it with new bonded rubber with no voids. No polyurethane is used I believe.

However, you also have to pay a $100 deposit per mount, which will be refunded after you send your engine mounts to Road and Track. This ensures that they can always have mounts on the shelf as 'core stock', waiting to be upgraded when the waiting list grows to 10+ people.
