looks sweet man, nice setup, and no expense spared, good to see...

Will be interesting to see what you make, I have a few things the same as you and would be interested to see the difference in your result to what I get...

May make me change a few things too

Yesterday I spent the whole day at MRC doing more wiring for the crank and cam triggers and coil-on-plug setup, and setting up my Adaptronic ECU for direct fire (sequential) ignition. I was stoked when I cranked the car for the first time since the engine went back in, with different ECU settings for the new injectors, and it immediately started in a fraction of a second. It then proceeded to idle beautifully on 2225cc/min injectors :-D
Now I've just got to wait a week or two for the Johnson water pump to arrive, then MRC will be able to finish the last few things quite quickly.

Definitely pricey :-/ That's why I got photos before it got covered up!

Today I FINALLY got the Johnson water pump for the intercooler system...2 months after starting to source the damn thing! MRC started working on my car again today to install the pump etc, so it's really getting close to completion now.

Well JDM_GT, it seems I've already proved you right haha...
After all my procrastination about my turbo a few months ago, and 'deciding' that I would keep my GT3082R, I've ended up changing my mind after a few long discussions with MRC and researching all over the web.

I'm strongly considering changing the turbo, and right now I'm thinking Precision 6262 ball bearing turbo with 0.82 A/R hot side.

MRC said last week with the GT3082R they were struggling to get more than about 273rwkw at ~23psi without knocking (on MRC's Mainline dyno which does read slightly lower than their previous Dyno Dynamics). I think the main problem is that the exhaust side of the turbo is a bit too small/marginal for my goals, and it is known to be a mismatch when mated to the big 82mm compressor anyway.

I'm making the change now before getting the full dyno tune and then later wishing that I had changed the turbo. Of course I will now have to wait a few more weeks to get my car back, but I can live with that.

What is the expected power output with the 6262 compared to the 3082?

If you have a look at beagle_senior's thread,
http://www.mr2australia.com/mr2play/FindPost/99239
he got 297rwkw at 23psi running a PT6262 with 0.63 A/R exhaust housing. His engine has very similar supporting mods too.

My goal is to get as close as possible to 300rwkw (preferably a bit more) on 98 fuel, and at least 330rwkw on E85.

hey what boost controller are you using too? i have a Garrett GTX3037s which is a copy of a hks turbo 3076 i think or close to that, i went from a bleed valve type to an e-boost street, and that has to be the best mod I've done, turbo comes on hard at 4k. the 6262 is using a billet wheel so you can go higher than 23psi too over your old turbo, if your flow and knocking are ll good. boost doesn't kill a motor.

On another note, MRC mentioned that the 'type 3' Frozen Boost core seemed to be a bit undersized for my new power goals. They said it just wasn't keeping the air temps down as much as we would like. So, I've ordered a 'type 5' core to replace it (they are the same height and length, but the core of the type 5 is exactly twice the width of the type 3's core). The Frozen Boost cores are such good value it didn't take much convincing for me to make that change.

My ECU controls the boost. I've always left it in open-loop mode, but I can run closed-loop if I want to.
Some people don't realise that many aftermarket ECUs have built-in electronic boost control!

good choice on the turbo mate  yeah i went for the 0.63 A/R exhaust housing and went ok, really look forward to this even more now to see if the 0.82 rear will make much difference.
