dasic1 You might not have to modify the throttle cable going Side feed. I didn't have too. That's good to know! I suppose it makes sense, as it would no longer have to reach over the top of the IC piping as mine currently does. Mrskylighter In regards to the throttle body my car managed 316KWs with the stock gen 2 55mm throttle body. If I kept the car longer I would have changed it to a larger one (Gen3 60mm or Mustang type 70-75mm) It's good to know that your 316kw was achieved with the same 55mm TB that I have. *EDIT*: after some recent research, I want to choose from one of these 3 options: - Have my stock 55mm gen 2 TB bored out (maximum 58.5mm according to 'Maxbore', ie. 13% increase in area), OR - Swap to a gen 3 60mm TB (19% increase in area), OR - Convert to Mustang 65mm TB (40% increase in area) I'm starting to like the idea of a gen 3 TB because it would be the cheapest upgrade, and 19% is enough of an area increase without making the throttle too twitchy at low throttle opening. dasic1 Great idea moving the car, I've thought about putting mine in storage but not sure if id trust it Mrskylighter I had my car in storage once, some pricks broke in and stole heaps from multiple storage units including mine. They took the Sony DVD/AV deck from my car and thats about it fortunately. The cameras recorded the event but didn't help locate the thiefs. Yeah it's so frustrating, you can't win hey, whether it's a 'secure carpark', or a lock-up garage or whatever, they can all be beaten by a f**king thief :-( Cameras are better than nothing, but they can't really prevent thefts, they can only help to resolve them afterwards, and probably not very often. I'm going to be moving in the next few months, and this time my top priority is to have a suitable place to garage my car, in the same building where I live (instead of 15-20 mins drive from where I live!) I've accepted that nothing can be totally secure, but I think I would still go for an individual lock-up garage, for convenience. It's funny how much I envy people with their own lock-up garage where they live, which seems like such a simple/given thing...until you have to live without one! lol

Scary to hear about the close call. My German Shepherd guards my MR2 while I'm away. About as good as it gets, although I honestly care more for my dog's well-being than my MR2 being stolen

Good work Rob. Sounds like a lot of work ahead for you and the guys at MRC but will all be worth it. Are you going to post a thread with pics for it?

It will be a fair bit of work, but nothing compared to all the work MRC did the first time around. I'll post progress pics in this thread as always *EDIT* maybe not as many progress pics as previously, because I no longer work in the same building as MRC!

just_ace is supplying me with a gen 3 throttle body. Also, I've just ordered this!

Dudeman Whatsthatdo? The stock intake plenum (it's volume and shape) is designed for the power delivery of the stock engine and turbo, but it is far from ideal for a highly modified engine with a bigger turbo. I was silly not to upgrade it the first time around, because almost every other part of my engine has been modified. Anyway, this RacerX manifold should give me more top-end power with a minimal impact on the mid-range.

Outstanding power from your engine modifications. Car looks very smart. Just curious are you still running the stock 3STGTE distributor, rotor and cap. Looks from the pictures I have seen you might still be using spark plug leads. Cheers

Yeah I still have the stock distributor (with new spark plug leads just because I wanted them to be black), and it handles 267rwkw @ 20psi with no trouble at all.

Don't get caught up with the 'big tb makes things twitchy' thing, because I an ensure you it doesn't at least not up until 75mm. Maybe a 90mm might be excessive but 75mm didn't seem to me much different than OEM (though there was a period of 1.5yrs between driving with OEM and driving with 75mm). Looks like your sorting a few more things out :) Strangely, you never seem to be finished with cars! Your not the first person I've heard with issues with ECUs in the boot. 5SGTE on the forums had issues with his haltech on the dyno getting too hot resulting in loss of crank signal. I am now thinking maybe its the same issue that MR2Mark was having as well. I never had any dramas with the Autronic. I haven't used my M800 yet, but the Autronic was the best ECU I have seen to date. Driveability was amazing for a highly modified car. Default settings for idle controls etc were already VERY accurate and never even got touched. Ahh, the days.

JDM_GT how much did the intake cost?? im after one too. racerx is prob the best looking aswell. I think the intake manifold itself was $795 US. I paid just over $1k total for the side-feed RacerX intake manifold, phenolic spacer and shipping from the US to AU. -Totenkopf- Don't get caught up with the 'big tb makes things twitchy' thing, because I an ensure you it doesn't at least not up until 75mm. Maybe a 90mm might be excessive but 75mm didn't seem to me much different than OEM (though there was a period of 1.5yrs between driving with OEM and driving with 75mm). Thanks for the advice. I've already bought a gen 3 TB off just_ace, so that's settled. Increasing the TB diameter from 55 to 60mm makes quite a big difference to the area of the TB. -Totenkopf- Looks like your sorting a few more things out :) Strangely, you never seem to be finished with cars! I've modified almost every part of my car, so there isn't a whole lot more that I can do after this step. I'm extremely happy with it already, and these new engine mods will make it just about perfect for me! -Totenkopf- Your not the first person I've heard with issues with ECUs in the boot. 5SGTE on the forums had issues with his haltech on the dyno getting too hot resulting in loss of crank signal. I am now thinking maybe its the same issue that MR2Mark was having as well. I never had any dramas with the Autronic. Default settings for idle controls etc were already VERY accurate and never even got touched. Ahh, the days. It's interesting to read your comments about others, with different ECU brands. My e1280s ECU is still a modified version of one of the earlier beta testing units, from when I worked at Adaptronic myself. The latest ECU hardware has it all fixed, I just haven't had a chance to get my ECU hardware upgraded yet. I'm moving the A2W barrel out of the boot regardless of the ECU situation anyway. BTW, it is indeed the crank signal that gets lost in my ECU at really high ECU temperatures. The temperature only affects the signal enough to cause problems at cranking speed (hence preventing the car from starting in those conditions). As soon as the RPM gets to idle speed or higher, the amplitude of the reluctor crank signal gets high enough to overcome the temperature-dependent voltage offset in the crank signal detection circuitry. When the ECU cools down the car always starts and runs VERY nicely again. I can't emphasize enough how perfectly my ECU operates in every other way :-) on the topic of idle control...Adaptronic ECUs can do closed-loop idle control using a combination of ISCV control AND ignition timing adjustment at idle, maybe Autronic does that too but I can't remember. The ignition timing idle control makes it so much easier for my car to idle nicely with the big cams.

That was this issue with mine, restart when the ecu was hot, otherwise was fine. No issues with road use so far.
