Whats wrong with the brakes? Couple guys here run willwoods (the newer style) and they have had no trouble getting over. (Although the reason they had to go over was for a 'defect notice'). Wheels would only be the only issue. That MR2 (come Farrari Replica) thats for sale at the moment has this: " Wheels: ROH 3 piece 'Modena' alloy wheels, 7 inch on the front, and 8.5 inch on the rear. The speedo has been re-calibrated as required by the ADR's and 'Engineer' approved. " I didn't fit the Wilwoods so I really don't know. I'm not sure if they have dust boots or not, but I've been told it's illegal to have no dust boots.

Small update. Consulmotive and MRC have had a chat about my car, and I talked to MRC myself today. Consulmotive haven't looked at the car in person yet, they have only talked to MRC over the phone to determine what things need to be sorted out before having the car inspected in person. Here are some details of what needs to happen (so far): - As I suspected, there are no side intrusion bars, so I need to source those so MRC can fit them...does anyone know where I can get a kit for this? - I do have to get it emissions tested (there was no mention of the ECU to Consulmotive yet, but the different intercooler setup was enough to require an emissions test anyway - so once it passes emissions we'll hopefully get Consulmotive to specify that it has passed with an aftermarket ECU too). - A 'Euro 4' cat (very restrictive but very good at catalysing) will be fitted by MRC for the emissions test, and with any luck that will also reduce the exhaust noise enough to pass a noise test. - Apparently I need tyre placard, I don't know exactly what that entails (Consulmotive haven't seen or been made aware of the wheels and brakes yet). - I need an emissions label thingy. Also, unrelated to the engineering certification, but equally urgent, I need a driver's side power window regulator...can anyone help me with that? MRC will be contacting me soon to let me know exactly what I need for this.

It recently occurred to me that my car has been 'off the road' (more or less) for a little over a year now, so I'm certainly looking forward to sorting out the engineering certificate and getting the car back in my own garage once and for all. MRC have fixed my power window (which was an annoying interruption to the engineering process), but they are too busy to do anything else for a few weeks unfortunately. I've got an emissions label and tyre placard organised, so I need to sort out the intrusion bars next. Then I'll worry about emissions, etc.

ouch. really sorry to hear about your bad luck! I love so much about this car. your front brakes are sex... they make me want to get some! so much about this car is just the way I think mr2s should look :) Hope you can get it sorted relatively cheaply. having to get it engineered though sounds really expensive! :(

Thanks heaps mate! I miss the fuzzy feeling I get every time I get out of my MR2 and turn around to look at it as I walk away The engineering will be expensive, but if I told you how much I've spent already you would see that the engineering is a relatively small price to pay.

robk I've got an emissions label and tyre placard organised... Hey Rob. Where did you find an emissions label? I've just fitted a turbo engine lid to my BEAMS Bathurst and need a new one for a 3SGE, but Toyota can supply them any more. Did you make your own up?

In my case I was able to get one off Brell for my 3SGTE (he got some made with Surok's help, based on a GT4 Celica label or something like that). I think Brell might still have some more, you could talk to him or Surok about it.

Love the rims on this, how wide at the front and back? Also, what suspension are you running?

Geez, when I see that I haven't posted in this thread for a month, it makes me realise how much I'm letting time get away from me in terms of getting my car finished up. Today I finally got off my arse to chase up what's happening with my car, and I found out that my JDM doors are having intrusions bars fitted at the moment, which I'm really happy about because I was expecting to have to change to ADM doors, but I didn't want to! I'm about to call Consulmotive to find out if my Wilwoods will fail engineering or not. If so, I'll be changing my front brakes to the DeltaV setup with Nissan callipers and Lexus rotors. The emissions test is still the main thing that needs to be sorted, and that will be done once I get a cat fitted soon.

I saw your car yesterday when I dropped mine off for its tune. Still looking good but could do with some air in the the front driver side tyre!

It's official, my Wilwood front brakes have to go I can deal with it though, as I'll be quite satisfied with 315mm Lexus rotors and Nissan callipers as a permanant alternative solution. I've talked to DeltaV to organise one of their kits with dogbones, braided lines and pads, and MRC have already managed to source the callipers and rotors for me! My doors are still having intrusion bars fitted too. Hooray for progress!

Another update. - The intrusion bars are done. - The front brakes have been successfully converted to 315mm Lexus discs and Nissan callipers (I'll get the Wilwoods from MRC ASAP so I can sell them, as mentioned in a separate thread). - There is now a cat fitted to the car, in the cat-back part of the exhaust rather than the dump pipe. This means that it will be getting an emissions tune ASAP. Things are really moving along now
