Gauges look great. Your cigarette lighter position is actually visible, its hidden from view in our mr2, maybe its the different wheel. I would personally change the oil gauge lighting to white for a uniform look if possible.

Cheers

Ideally I would prefer for it to be white like the other gauges for uniformity, but by the same token I think the head unit looks good with coloured illumination, so at least I can have two things with red illumination. Red is my favourite colour anyway so I don't really mind!

Today I did a few laps around the (fairly long and vacant) carpark at my work (that's the only place I can drive at the moment), and OMG I can't wait to see what the car has really got on the road! There was only enough room for about 50% throttle coming onto boost about 10 meters before I had to brake, but dammmmnn she just wants to go like a rocket at that moment...and that is only with the 11-12psi wastegate spring pressure (which it was nowhere near anyway)

My car has been back on the dyno today, finally

It had an oil change beforehand because there was a bit too much fuel in the oil from running rich during the initial setup and tuning (and it's still being run-in, with running-in oil).

We bumped the boost up to 15psi (still nowhere near the 20-23psi that I'll be running once it's run in), and it easily made 200kW atw at about 6500 RPM

There will be more progress to report soon I hope, but my full-power target looks like it will be very achievable once the engine is run-in.

Thats nice.
Would like to see the power curve. Are you doing 4th gear pulls and using Dyno Log by any chance ?

I assume you mean Mainline Dyno Log, but nah it's Dyno Dynamics.
I wasn't paying heaps of attention to all the specifics relating to the power figure at this early stage, we were really just testing things like the boost control and seeing how the engine responded out of curiosity, but I think it was in 4th gear. I'll wait for the full power tune before I get a photo of the dyno curve.

I got my Aeroware front lip the other day, so here are a few photos:

The quality appears to be very good. It's quite thin and flexible (I think it's a special type of fibreglass that Shine Auto use) so it should be really durable, unlike the dodgy thick brittle cheap fibreglass body kits out there.

When I get a chance I'll probably get the Aeroware lip and PP rear corners fitted and painted together, and my left side skirt needs repairing at the same time too.

Mate looking really good, love the look of your engine bay,
With the X brace bumping on the Manifold. look into maybe some washers to raise it a bit or some sort of fabric (maybe heat wrap tape) to work as a cushion and absorb the knock/sound.

I heard from Adaptronic again, Andy said my car was briefly back on the dyno on Sunday. It is now up to 225rwkW with 16psi of boost (I'm waiting for Andy to reply to a message where I asked about the RPM and a few other things). Soon enough the 20-23psi maximum boost level will be set and it sounds like my power goal will be easily achieved.

Thats some pretty good figures Rob! Mine is making a bit less than that but there are still some things I can tweak, but I'm going to leave it for the moment and sort out other issues as I'm quite happy with where the engine is at currently. Good luck with it.

Thanks Jeff.

Anyway, just when things were looking promising, I took the car for a quick drive last week for the first time on the street in over 6 months, and of course my driver side power window decided to break at that very moment! I've been told it's probably the regulator guide rails for the window, I'll find out soon.
I also noticed some tuning issues while driving it, but that will be sorted out in time.

Just to rub salt into the wounds, I got some much more frustrating news today.

Back in February I renewed the rego on my MR2 over the phone. They said there was a 'data error' or something, but by the end of the phone call they said that they had sorted it out and renewed my rego, and it was charged to my credit card. I was a bit worried by the initial 'data error', but I forgot about it after a while and moved on.
Anyway, a few weeks ago I noticed that you can do a free rego check online at myRTA, so I did it just out of curiosity, and it said something like 'there is an inconsistency with RTA records', and at that point I started to get a bit more worried.
So, I just visited the RTA for some clarification. It turns out that a previous owner of my MR2 obtained a fraudulent engineers certificate when it was imported. As a result of all this, I have 3 months to get the car fully legalised and certified or my rego will be suspended
It was inevitable that I would need to get it engineered eventually, but I can't put it off any longer. I'm sure I'll be able to get it engineered, I'm just dreading the hassle and extra cost!
Fortunately most of my engine mods (where I've spent most of my money) should be legal. The BOV is plumbed back, the catch can is plumbed back, the boost control valve has nothing going straight to the atmosphere, there is no screamer pipe, the intercooler pipes are bolted to the firewall properly, etc.
I may have to get an emissions test and a noise test, so that would be a big hassle, but I think the biggest hassle will be the brakes and wheels. I may have to ditch the front brakes, and I'm not sure about the wheels.
I'll be organising to have an RTA engineering signatory inspect the car ASAP.

That's relatively disheartening news mate. I guess it's at this point you should be glad you went to the effort/cost to have everything done properly :).

So does the Engineering have to be done by the RTA or it can be any certified person? With TMR getting mods engineered is quite an easy process so hopefully it's a smooth process for you! the scariest one will be the emissions! All the mechanical mods have been done so professionally the I reakon you shouldn't have any issues.

Yeah I'm glad that all the mechanical work in the engine bay has been done properly, so I shouldn't have to change much in that regard and waste my money.

The brakes and wheels are a concern, there is a good chance that I'll have to change the front brakes at least. They were already on the car when I got it, but I do love them and it would be sad if I had to remove them. If it turns out that I do have to change the front brakes, at least there are well-documented alternatives, like DeltaV's offering.

I don't know about other states, but in NSW there are various people who have the necessary accreditation to be included on the RTA's list of engineering signatories. In other words, the RTA don't do the certification themselves, they just specify who is allowed to provide engineering certificates, and when you register your vehicle you may have to show any applicable engineering certificate/s for the vehicle.
I'll have to choose an engineering signatory (eg. Consulmotive), have them inspect the car, then they will tell me what I need to change or add to make the whole car compliant, then they will provide the engineer's certificate for all modifications.

Whats wrong with the brakes? Couple guys here run willwoods (the newer style) and they have had no trouble getting over. (Although the reason they had to go over was for a 'defect notice').

Wheels would only be the only issue. That MR2 (come Farrari Replica) thats for sale at the moment has this:

" Wheels: ROH 3 piece 'Modena' alloy wheels, 7 inch on the front, and 8.5 inch on the rear. The speedo has been re-calibrated as required by the ADR's and 'Engineer' approved. "

Maybe that could be an option?
