Haunted Hill trackday update :
Car ran like a bird, howls all the way to the 8300 redline - yum.
Still haven't finished the wiring, but got the boot finished for now and trim reinstalled, ditto most of the interior, but the glovebox and lower dash panels are still to be done.

I had a few problems downshifting from 3rd to 2nd at track speed - if you push too hard too the left, the lever goes into the reverse gate a few mm and baulks on the change. I've been told it is not just me, and am considering building a reverse lockout.

All wiring (alarm, AFR sensor) finished. Oil cooler is finally fitted!
Aircon compressor off to get leak sorted, then the swap is finally complete.

Long delayed update.
So after driving it daily (70 km round trip), I broke the motor last december :(
The crank pulley bolt loosened, and the pulley fretted until it broke the keyway out of the pulley.
Stuffed the crank nose.

When I stripped the motor, I found that the rear main seal had lost a chunk of material, and the spring in the seal had worn a groove in the rear of the crank as well.
f*****

Found a 2nd hand crank, got it crack tested & balanced, and got the block honed, new rings and bearings fitted, like you do.

Finally got the engine assembled and installed - all this at a mate's house ; him moving during this time didn't help...

Then I decided to do the valve clearances with the engine in the car... not the easiest access to the front of the motor that way :(

Shim under bucket is a pita : i had the cams out 3 or 4 times before I was happy with the clearences.

And now it is finally run in and I put it on the dyno yesterday....

106 kW at the wheels :-)

Fuel is United 100

The beast is back!

My calculations show the flywheel power to be around 120 - 125 kW

So much for the people saying that Toyota fudged the blacktop power figures - mine is totally stock, just set everything by the book, and used 100 octane fuel like it's designed for.

Now to balance the throttle bodies, and do some intake testing when I can get on the dyno again.

I'll grab a pdf of the dyno run at work tomorrow and post it. I am embarassed to post exterior shots as I blew my paintwork budget on the engine rebuild.
