Hey Lumix, I'm interested in a few of the Bathurst decals. I've tried PMing you and it says it sent, but then I have no PMs in my sent folder, so I don't know if they're actually going through. I'd like one or two of the decals with the white "Mount Panorama" lettering, for a black car. Please PM me! :) Thanks!

Engine bay pic after the quick clean and repaint of the strut brace. I would like to buy a new heat/sound deadening shield for the engine lid, mine is looking so tatty. Thanks to Gatesys SW20, a new oil level sensor arrived for me last week!

Hi Lumix,I meant to ask a few days ago. Did you get your transmission Oil plugs loose with the car on floor stands, or on a hoist ? I haven't been able to get enough leverage, even with a long bar, on floor stands.

I did it with floor stands with only the rear jacked up. I was able to slide a 550mm long bar over of the ratchet handle and loose both oil plugs.

That's different. Wonder how he got onto that.

Hi Lumix, Did you end up getting a new heat/sound deadening shield for your engine lid? Mine is also getting very tatty - I even had to cut a bit off. Cheers, M

Unfortunately I wasn't able to get a new engine hood insulator when ordering my gaskets. Amayama ( www.amayama.com) emailed back saying it was out of stock with an unknown delivery date. I haven't look much further into it at the moment.

Hi Lumix & Monika, My Engine Hood Insulator is also a little tatty. I have been considering making one from a product such as Armaflex FR. I tried to attach a brochure but it wouldn't. Armaflex is a black synthetic foam rubber type insulation material, commonly seen in tubular form for insulating refrigeration pipework. It is also seen as protective padding on roof-racks. It is available in 1.0 m x 1.5 m sheets, & 6mm & 9 mm thickness. Does anyone have any experience or comments ?

Hey Peter. Thanks for the information. I asked my brother who does large refrigeration installs he said "it could get smoky" but would look into it. Hopefully I can get some test pieces from my brother and see how it will work.

Yeah Lumix, I also work in that industry. I reckon that I will buy a thin sheet & give it a go, & keep an eye on it. Your brother may also know that the material can be painted with acrylic paint to improve weather proofing.

I bought a K&N 33-2030 air filter BUT for the life of me I can't get 2 of the 4 clips that hold the air box closed latched. I started making idle threats with car sales mentioned a few times. After trying for a hour or so of removing and refitting my frustration was getting to the better of me. So I decided to drop the Ryco filter back in and have another attempt tomorrow. The Ryco goes in like butter, 10 seconds later it was all back together. The K&N rubber border is quite thick so maybe I just need more downward force to compress it while doing up the latches.

Do yourself a favour and remove the whole air cleaner box and experimentally fit the element on the bench where you can see properly what is going on. Maybe wrong element! Don't want to DUST a perfectly good engine. Ive had difficulty with a couple of other types of vehicles in this area too. Usually poor design. SW20 is actually quite good and needs to be as they breathe a fair bit of sand and brake dust.
