5SGTE It's not boring! I used to have a boring 600km/week weekly commute. I used a fuel app to try to better my weekly fuel usage. It became a game of hypermiling in the end.
I know right! I'm going to need to set some driving challenges for myself and drive with some extreme self control and delicate foot work and report back on the results. Falcon Wow ! That is quite some comprehensive record keeping. Well done. Considering your overall route driving (city a lot and a little track work too) it is pretty good which points to a very healthy engine and brakes that are not dragging. Excellent result really. And thanks for sharing. Plenty of us only record fuel consumption figures on long distance highway running and that is OK. for identifying if something is not correct and needing attention. (A brake slider pin seized, brake dragging, restriction in air inlet, closed loop operation faulty, O2. Sensor). Makes you appreciate the litres flowing through that little fuel filter ? Your car is always very well presented. Congratulations. Lot of work to achieve that. I recently rode in a turbo 86 with good quality coilovers and was impressed with ride quality. Was not impressed with the after market ECU.tune. Absolute rubbish. Ruined a very nice car. Yes back seat is only for handbags but nice modern car for very reasonable money. I suspect there may be oil surge difficulties with sticky tyres on track. Turbo was limited to seven PSI.so not spectacular but a big improvement.
Thanks Doug. Exactly, I can also use my record keeping and track any improvements from the major service, injector cleaning, o2 sensor replacement etc by aligning service dates and petrol fill ups. I also tracked almost every dollar spent on car related expenses and it was eye opening to see the final numbers after the year was finished... and my car is stock! I don't know how you blokes do it with those modified turbo cars ;)! I'm on the fence with 86, I briefly sat in Zac's and enjoyed the driving position and seats, but judging from car reviews and peoples comments I would need to spend a few thousand to improve the torque curve. I'm yet to drive an 86 so I can't comment and do any comparisons to my Bathurst.

I drove several 86 bog standard cars some years ago and I remember them being very poor for torque but they did have a six speed box. Once you keep the revs up higher they go quite well. If you really get stuck into them with very high revs they go pretty hard. A lot better driver than me but there was no way I could stay with Anthony at Wakefield Park or Baskerville in Tassie. I rode with him too and he really keeps it stirred up and is very neat. Modified turbos are a bit different that's for sure. I'm still spending but at a slightly lesser rate. And I've not had any disasters. - YET !!! Certainly a lot of fun to drive on track though and lovely strong torque.

Thanks for posting about the adapter bolt, worked a treat! 5SGTE Neat but usable, nicely done. What's the pressure doing?
44 psi instantly on start. I need to read up in the service manual to make sure it's within spec.

This car is always very well presented. A credit to you and a great representative for the club. Thanks for making the effort. (But where are the R888s)?

This afternoon I made up a fire extinguisher mount. The goal was to mount it in front of the passenger seat utilising the passenger seat mounting points and retain all motion of the seat. The factory seat rail have tabs that are used for plastic trim pieces to cover the bolts which make the install a little trickier as I didn't want to modify the factory seat rail at all. I did try slipping 3mm metal strap between the seat rail and the body but that moves the seat away from the rear mounting points. I'm very happy with the install. It feels strong, easy to access quickly, and removable to revert back to factory. I bought a 1kg extinguisher from MSA. I would have liked something bigger but with my mounting restrictions and requirements it fitted the bill perfectly. After standing in bunnings metal aisle for 30min, I walked out with the below to do the install. 2 x Post bracket 50x50mm Internal Fixing 1 x Aluminium Flat bar 40x3mm (1m) 1 packet of M5 x 12mm bolts (to mount the extinguisher metal holder to the aluminium flat bar) I also used pop rivets, vice grips, drill, hacksaw and any other tools that make life easier. Fun project for the afternoon and extra safety is always welcome.

Yep. Looks good. Just make sure the mounting could accommodate prang " G " forces. You don't want it to become a kg missile in with you. Hint. Bring it tomorrow for a trial run. See you there.
