New owner - AW11 Targa top

Hi All, I bought myself a nice Christmas presant - an aw11 supercharged and targa top and I am excited to join the a dub community! After building up a big supply or parts and spares I am now confident in my decision!

Now it may be a while before I am on the road as I will be restoring the dented, rust holed, thrashed, unloved auto to a former life. I have a full engine rebuild currently underway with an endless list of difficult to obtain parts, a manual conversion and a requirement for a big bank account. After that the rest is easy! rust rebuild, body restoration and paint.

So far in my journey I am happy to discover that the cylinder bores are silky smooth and mechanically, the tolerances are good regardless of evidence of poor maintenance - yay the quality of Toyota OEM.

Over the last few evenings I have started washing engine parts in preparation to paint the external engine housings. Shortly I plan to buy new bearings and big cams to complete my shopping list for a long term reliable engine.

Thanks

     Welcome to the site.
That sounds like the making of a fine hobby. Mine started off like that and I enjoyed the fixing as much as I do the driving.
