(Report from Todd M)
The Southern run went well today, with 12 cars attending although 3 just attended the initial meeting place to say hello and went on a short Park run after that. The day started with a bit of excitement when a Highway Patrol car pulled over a speeding driver who turned into the station carpark as a safe place to stop... Having a highway patrol car with lights flashing in the middle of a bunch of MR2's gave some cause for palpitations... There were many mutterings of 'close your engine lids people...' as some of the modifications might not have passed too much scrutiny, luckily, the boys in blue were preoccupied and left us alone.
We stuck to the route Matt had sent through, with a short stop on the side of the road at Albion Park to regroup. As the weather was beautiful, those with Targa's took the opportunity to remove their roofs (Fran and I were topless all day). A great run up Macquarie pass with about 80% done before we ran into the back of a slow car. We stopped at Robertson Pie shop for about 30 minutes, where we were joined by 2 cars (Tony and Kay, and Preston), some had coffee and cake, everyone had a good chat, the place was full of motorcycles and we helped one of them fix a clutch cable problem on his Harley by materialising the tools he needed. A reasonably quiet drive from there to Kiama with a bit of traffic, we all parked in the lighthouse carpark, I am sure Anthony got some good photos, then we got take away lunch at Diggies Cafe and sat around on the grass overlooking the water. From there we said our goodbyes and made our various ways home.
