MR2 AW11 1B, Bigport to small port conversion

Hello,
My Mr2 has a very healthy small port. It's not a full conversion as its running the bigport ECU, AFM, distributor and injectors. The lambda probe is disconnected and the knock sensor obviously does nothing as well. Google and I agree that this frankenstein mix does work pretty well, but I think it would run better with the correct ECU spark table and knock detection.

I've been looking for detailed guides on how to finish this engine swap and found a few for AE86's and the ECU's used in the USA. Thats a lot of good reading but there may be some local differences worth finding out about. I've collected the later style distributor and controller. I still need an ECU, matching grey plugs to repin into, 4 hole injectors and the MAP body.

Here's a few questions that someone whos been down this path might be able to help with.
  • Is there a step by step conversion guide anywhere that was written for an aussie spec, AC and manual gearbox AW11?
  • Can the AE92 FWD inlet plumbing and resonant chamber be made to fit to a standard AW11 1B air filter assembly?
  • Are any sensors incompatible between the two motors?
  • Should I get the 6 odd new wires required from an AE92 Harness or can they be easily made from scratch?
  • Has anyone in the Vic chapter of the MR2 club done this and is happy to do some show and tell?
  • Anyone got the missing bits I need?
I've been going round in circles thinking, finish the conversion, go aftermarket ECU and leave it alone and run 98 octane to cover the 500 rpm TVIS change over where it can run poorly.

IMO, go straight to an aftermarket computer.
The flexibility in even the most basic of available units these days blows the doors off the crappy 1980's tech that the stock ECU's utilised.

Adaptronic M1200 ($990), Haltech Elite 750 ($1495), Link G4+ Atom 2 ($985) or a MicroSquirt ($650) will all handle standard functionality required for a small port 4AGE while leaving you with plenty of flexibility for the future.
