question about the speed limiter ?

so today i clocked my car and when it went over 180 the car made a weird noise and scared the **** out of me haha was just wondering if this was just the speed limiter cutting off ?

    When hitting the speed limiter is should simply stop accelerating

    it did but it was really aggressive ? 
    Sounds more like fuel cut than limiter.

    it happen as i went over 180 then the car was back to normal

    When I hit mine it isn't aggressive, it's the same as if you were to take your foot off the accelerator.
     
    And sorry yeah its the fuel cut.

    No, both only fitted to turbo models.
