Counterfeit parts

I suppose many people on here would be aware of articles online warning about counterfeit parts, because they have been around for some time, but I’m posting this up anyway just in case some people may not have seen them.

Many of us use quality name brand replacement parts like Toyota, Walbro, Denso and NGK for instance, but it would appear that you need to be very careful if you are buying them online, and who you buy them from.
If an item seems very cheap there may be a very good reason!!

It seems that counterfeiters are getting more sophisticated than ever with cheaply made ‘knock off’ copies of OEM replacement parts that look just like the originals, including using packaging that blatantly copy’s the genuine logos.
Here’s just a few I found with a quick search on Google:
Phony Toyota branded oil filters that don’t filter properly, phony Walbro and Bosh fuel pumps that fail quickly, phony Denso spark plugs that overheat, and who knows how many more are out there?

Other common ones are counterfeit fuel pressure regs, particularly tomei and sard. They don't regulate pressure properly and can cause massive issues.
