MR2 Club of NSW - May 2018 event - Tech Seminar

Hi everyone,

On the 27th of May at 3:30pm, the MR2 Owners Club of Australia - NSW Branch will be hosting a technical seminar.
I will be presenting the seminar myself. I have a Mechatronics Engineering degree, and I previously worked for Adaptronic Engine Management for more than 3 years. My main area of automotive expertise is in aftermarket standalone ECUs, but I have also accumulated knowledge on many other automotive topics due to the extensive and heavily-researched modifications that I have made to my MR2 over the years, and an obsession with knowing exactly how things work.

I get asked for technical advice all the time, especially regarding ECUs, and quite often the questions are asked in such a way that I sense a lack of understanding of the fundamentals.
My goal for this seminar, is to focus on a variety of automotive topics that I think are widely misunderstood by people, often without them realising it.

Here are the event details:

Meeting date: Sunday 27th May
Meeting time: 3:30pm
Meeting location: 2 Stanley St, Silverwater (at "4WD Supacentre")
Cost: Free for financial members of the club, or $10 for non-members (this will cover entry, pizza and a drink)

We will aim to finish up at about 7pm, but it may be slightly earlier or later than that.
There will be a break around the halfway point, at which time we will have some pizza and drinks.

Thank you to club member David Vella for offering his workplace for us to use for this event.

See you there!

Kind regards,
Rob Knox - Club President

Absolutely a great idea Rob !!!  Is there any chance you could make available the notes that you will be using ?
It would be most gratefully appreciated by this old bloke. Quite happy to pay a fee or make a donation.
Your experiences certainly will have qualified you in these areas.
I misunderstand most things most of the time and most often don't realise it to even know to ask the questions.
Building up this black turbo thing has been a real big adventure for me and very rewarding too.
But I still have plenty of questions as to how it all works.
Big thanks for doing this Rob.
    Regards  Doug.

We decided that one of the committee members is going to record this on their camera.
We will either put the video on YouTube or maybe just send it directly to anyone interested.

Thanks Rob.  Maybe the recording could go to a memory stick that could be posted out.
I would be very interested in purchasing this recording.  Cheers  Doug.

Great work rob. Only watched part, to be continued at home on the big screen. Camera angle makes you look tall - awesome production ;)-

That was really interesting Rob. Was like Engineering explained MR2 Edition hahaha. Can you recommend any other good resources on this kind of stuff? I'd especially like a good book or something that demystified suspension, thinking I might give something like this a whirl:

    I highly recommend HPA.

While it is not free, they have great courses and webinars on all aspects of tuning, with live demonstrations of various topics, test vehicles and theories. If you purchase any of their courses (Traction Control is like $20) it will give you 3 months of Gold Membership access to the webinars
