Re: MR2 Wakefield Park Challenge NOW October 8 - All is not lost

My parts arrived yesterday. The car is running but still a day or two of work before the tuner. I fitted EVO X injectors which are low impedance which operate a lot different to the 65-cc high impedance injectors which I was running in the car. The S2000 steering rack is not running under power steering but works just fine without power assist. Will be ready for the Monday open pit lane day with the crew! Just a side note, my ban implemented by the previous manager of WP has been lifted! So happy to be able to get back on board working on future MR2 meets and more at WP.

The previous manager tried to cancel our contract then increase pricing. I resisted and won (with Pete's help) so out of spite he banned me along with banning the naming of the meet 'MR2 Trackday Challenge'.

Yes Glenn you deserve congratulations on 1:04.8. MR2 record for Wakefield. For somebody who I see as always looking at a careful tight budget with regards engine mods and not for getting your driving skills, always out there constantly ahead of most other drivers with the videos I have seen. I think your going to be hard to catch.

Highlander Richard (Kojab), you need to bring one of those cars along on Monday 8 October. MR2s provide a lot more fun on the track than they do in the garage and with an open pit lane you get more than ample time for track tuning.
I would love to be at the track again but with the front intercooler removed to fit the air conditioner condenser on the AW11 I have yet to think about different ways of intercooling. The GT SW20 is running but still needs to be tuned as well as a intercooler to be installed. Looks like next year for me.

5SGTE What was the previous record?
It continues to drop year by year thanks to the MR2 Trackday Challenge. This one one of the many positives of this meet. In 2017 Justin from Victoria in his WTAC MR2 Spyder raised the bar substantially with a 66.148. If he didn't have a failure of the ring gear on his clutch, he would have been in the 65's without too much hassle. This is Glenn's progression of the full circuit from 2014 2017- 67.1 2016- 68.242 2015- 69.4894 2014- 68.47 So Glenn has evolved very nicely over the years. Ken Matsuda did a 67 in 2014 which held the record until 2017 In 2010 I set the record at 68.1 with a scrappy lap which was held until Ken reset the bar in 2014.

Some disappointing news regarding the Monday trackday. The car spent two days with the tuner but was unable to solve a problem with fluctuating AFR's which stopped the tune from being competed so I cannot run the car. We checked all the usual suspects: compression/cam control/injectors,etc but ran out of time to solve the problem so I will be just coming down to say hello.
