1997 MR2 Exhaust Upgrade Options?

Hi All,
I am looking to upgrade my exhaust. Not necessarily looking for performance improvement but rather to make it sound a bit better - I dont need to wake up an entire suburb when I drive past! just something to give it that little bit extra ya know?

It is a 1997 turbo model but previous owner took the turbo off so its na.

Budget - i wish it was larger. if i could keep it around $300 that would be great. obviously i dont expect to get anything great at this price, but i have seen some stuff on ebay.

Appreciate any input!
Thanks!

Could just get a muffler and use the same piping?

From what I've heard the ebay set ups are pretty loud.

Taking the turbo off to make it NA interests me though...

Thanks. Any one in particular that you would recommend?

Yeah not really sure why the turbo was removed...

For $300 not a lot of options other than the above, eBay or replace mufflers, IMO both would still sound as good as an expensive one

Very strange to hear about the turbo being removed, I have a complete Ct20b turbo with everything it needs to work for sale if you want to bolt one back on haha.

I think I paid around $300-400 for my Fujitsubo (Think thats how its spelt) muffler a few years ago.

Its a good sounding system with out attracting the wrong attention and better flow than standard.

I used to have a Remus SW20 muffler system on one of my old MR2's, it had a nice note, and not too loud.
The other option is to keep the OEM muffler and just replace the cat with a 200-cell metal one, which should open it up a bit in terms of breathing and sound without being too over the top...

Possible due to P Plate laws, or due to engine failure and swapping it for a different motor than what it came with.

Just get a different rear muffler, no need to work the rest of the system, especially if you're that down on power.
