SW20 prices on carsales
Is it just my imagination or are the prices asked for good condition SW20's on Carsales and elsewhere noticeably higher recently compared to a year ago? Many seem to be more expensive than 10+ year younger Spyders.

I was looking the other day, I probably haven't looked in sometime but it did surprise me to see a lot of the Spyders becoming cheaper than the SW20s. Also feel like a few of the SW20s are probably a bit over priced considering the amount of cheap ones popping up, but fingers crossed they do start to increase in value, just need more people to write theirs off.

Good SW20's are becoming increasingly rare, especially Gen3's. Future classic in the making...

Most 90's sports cars have shot up in value over the past few years, it was only a matter of time before the SW20 had it's turn... I sold a S5 RX7 FC3S about 5 years ago for $8000 (fair price at the time) now I can't find one as good for less than $15000!

Go back 24 months and there weren't many videos on Youtube about the SW20. There's been a boom in SW20 content since then, because they were cheap, affordable and different. The increase in popularity has seen an increase in price because they're now in demand.

Rumour has it MCM have bought a MR2. Might have a influx of new interest once the videos are released.

I thought that MCM rumor was dismissed when they revealed their 350Z project? The inconsistency in listing price has probably got a lot to do with how different SW20s are. No two cars are the same. Spyders are usually original or close to, and can therefore be priced on condition and Kms.

Hoonsy went to the recent MCM meet in Brisbane and Moog made a comment that he has one when referring to Hoonsy's SW20. Unless he was trolling.

The MCM rumor was likely true... The hints were pretty explicit, however from memory it was hinted as a daily for for one of then, so my guess is that he had it for a week or two and got a bit of a shock as to how hard they are to run as a daily and has already sold it
As for prices, im feeling its because the 90's jdm cars are becoming available in America (especially gtr's) which are driving up prices on the halo cars, which then has a flow on effect on traditionally cheaper options as people go looking for other options

I really can never understand how anyone can say they are hard to have as a daily? they are comfortable, reliable "If correctly maintained" , you can fit quite a bit in the boot of one and they are quite economical. So I really cant see why anyone would have a problem using one daily. I have used mine daily for the last 3yrs without a single problem and always enjoy it every time.

Couldn't agree more Nik. I've used an MR2 as a daily for the last 14 years and think they're about as user-friendly as any 2 seater could be. Anyone who thinks otherwise is a pussy who should just stick to driving a bloat-mobile.

I dailied my car when it had a 3SGE for two years with no problems whatsoever. It was no different to a celica or a corolla in terms of maintenance. Even now with the 2GR it isn't really a hassle, and maintenance is even easier
