Some more progress over the new years break: Installed a single din head unit to free up some space for gauges. Plus I can actually listen to music now. I bought and restored some used wheels from gumtree. Stripped, repaired damage, primer filler, wet sand, metallic graphite. This was my first time using metallic paint and it was a bit tricky. It's a very powdery / soft finish. I might need to seal with some clear coat.

I replaced my frayed throttle cable with a new piece from mr2-ben.co.uk and the help of this video; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DD7-u1UUlCM It was actually surprisingly easy. Cut off at the throttle body, pull out from the pedal, lube and thread in the new cable, reassemble and adjust. I've also done a bit of touch up paint. It looks a bit better and should make do until I can re-spray.

thanks guys. I'm pretty happy with how the wheels turned out. Very light weight Rays SE37K and fairly affordable due to the poo brown colour. The car is back in the shop to fix the stalling problem. I still need to do the rear brakes and replace all coolant hoses. After that I might do some fun stuff. Apexi intake maybe? I'd like to grab a basic boost gauge to see what it's making, but I'd also like an ebc, and if I get an ebc with inbuilt pressure gauge I don't need a separate gauge...decisions decisions.

Kitty is very JDM, but unfortunately doesn't fit. More of an mx5 thing anyway... IT DRIVES! I might slow down with the restoration for a while and enjoy as is. Credit card has taken a beating lately. I have a few things left to install and will continue to tinker. Looking back on my first post, it's pretty much exactly where I wanted to be at the 6 month mark, despite the unexpected problems.

This one may get a mixed reaction... My car didn't come with foglight, and only had one horn, which didn't work. I killed two birds with one stone by chucking some compact hella horns in the fog light brackets. Oem wiring only has a single positive wire to each horn, which then ground via the crash bar. I connected the toyota wire and replicated the ground by running a piece of wire from the second horn terminal around the foglight mounting bolts. I don't love it, but it works, and was a fast and easy install. I'll move them somewhere else when I get around to buying foglights. Next thing to do is try some redline MT-90. The box doesn't like changing from 4th to 3rd unless done slowly or rev matched precisely. Hopefully this will help.
