Respray prices

What have people been quoted or what have people played for a close door respray. My mr2 has a few small dings in it from people opening their doors into it and just want to get the whole car tidied up as it is about to become a summer/weekend car

Cheers

Cheap $600-800 for a self qualified spray painter to throw paint at it. Takes a day or less.

Properly; parts removed, prepared/sanded, prime, pearl/metallic, quality clear, proper paint inspection with 3000grit+ sand and full car buff, then you could be around $4,000+ Takes a week or more.

Closed door resprayed usually look cheap on a mr2 (tell tail spots side of pop up lights, wing, and many other spots that stand out as cheaply done.

You often get what u pay for.

I got quite a shock when I got quotes.

    First one was $10 - $15k & 2 months
    2nd was $6 - $10k & 1 month.
& yes I specified closed door respray.

they both said they take all trims & seals off, replace seals & whatever breaks due to being brittle, etc, take windscreen out & probably replace it because they usually crack.  They both said they take it right back to metal, even tho I said I wanted to keep the same colour.

So, it's waiting a bit longer................... just need some help to put the lip & door belt mounding on, so that they aren't just sitting on the floor for too long.

It's a matter of do it once and do it right. Shaz's quotes are what you should expect, you don't want a closed door re-spray over existing paint if the paint beneath it is **** or there is hidden rust that needs replacing. If it's just small issues I'd repair them myself with guides on youtube but larger paint fading I'd just maintain the paint as it is till you have about 6k to spend on a respray.
