Cannot find replacement tyres for 225/50/15R
My tread is getting dangerously low I'm not too knowledgeable in this department, and i can't manage to figure out where to find these tyres. Is it 100% necessary that I get the same tyres as I had before (Toyo Proxes I'm pretty sure)? My rear tyres are 225/50/15R, but the front are 195/55/15R, but so far everywhere I've gone, everyone just says that they dont make that size anymore (225/50/15). What are my options?

The only tyres I have found in that size for my stock rear rims are Falken ZE912 225/50R15 91V. I checked a few weeks back at Bob Jane and still had 70 or so tyres in stock. Note these are not high performance tyres, just daily all rounders.

I found some of the Falken's on ebay 18 months ago from CabterburyTradingandmag in Vic. Spoke to the tyre place close to work where I have been before & the were happy to fit them for me because they didn't have anything either. So I got them delivered there.

Pirelli make a tyre in that size for classic Lambo's etc. Or try Nitto.

In the same boat sort of. Have Bridgestone Potenza GT11 225/50R/15 & 205/50R15. Tread is good at the moment and I like the Mags I already have. Don't really want to upgrade rims unless I really have to. What are people with OEM 14" wheels doing? Had a lot of trouble finding the 205's at the last replacement.
And now my friend, the first rule of Italian driving. Whatsa behind me (breaks rear view mirror off and tosses it behind him), is not important! M튆àR 2

I don't know how good the Pirrelli's that have been mentioned are but they are expensive.

This is the solution: Demon Tweeks in the UK.Their prices are VERY favorable, even with the shipping included... and you can get numerous sizes (and brands) that aren't available in Australia. I just got a set of T1-R's delivered from them last week. Arrived at my house exactly one week after being ordered. http://www.demon-tweeks.c...e/tyres/toyo-t1-r-tyre

Unfortunately the local Toyo resellers have stopped supplying T1R's in our sizes - Demontweeks to the rescue! I ordered my last set from them, arrived in about 5 business days from the UK for a very reasonable price! Brexit has helped the exchange rate for us, too.

I've ordered my replacement Toyo T1-R's. Thanks Mister2 (and Reddtarga for pointing me here) for the Demon-Tweeks link. Ordered mine last week and looks like they will arrive on Tuesday. AUD393 delivered for 2x 225/50 15 seems a very reasonable price. As a guide, what have others paid to have the old tyres removed and new tyres fitted/balanced? Cheers Col

Bob Jane T-Marts installed my Toyo tyres to rims (no old tyres to remove) for $15.00 each, total $60.00 to fit the tyres and balance.

I have used Toyo T1R'S on the rear in the past, and have found the rear of the car tends to float a bit until they have a few K's on them, so maybe take it easy when you first get them on. Some people think the sidewalls are a bit soft on these, however I believe it is more likely to be tread flex because the rear end float goes away when the tread wears down a bit and the rubber hardens up.
