So the only two types of can based ones i have used are the haltech unit, and a racebrade TC-8. Both will take a direct connection for a standard k type thermocouple.
Other than that, i have only used motec E888 or E816 units, but they require wiring work to integrate.
The problems i can forsee are A. The units aren't cheap, and B. The CAN units are not cheap, and C. Thermocouples are a bit on the sensitive/unreliable side to put too many trims on. In all honesty it is quite a costly exercise. Also you need all 4 sensors to be the same distance and path from the exhaust ports to read accurately enough to be relevant. You can have 50 degree temp differences from the same mixtures etc, just by having on in a straight section of runner and one in a bend, even when the same distance from the exhaust valves.
You are usually at the serious end of the spectrum when you get to egts, as there are many sensors etc that typically come before these for data and engine protection.
Also another consideration is the engine management you are using, as this will affect the ability of integration of the unit. The haltech unit is really only designed for use with haltech ecus via a can hub, although they can be used with some other ecus. Racegrade works exceptionally well with motecs, and can be used with some other hardware.
